I stared at the remains of one of the biggest cities. The cars were frozen in time. Paper rustled around and the sky was orangish grey. The sun was setting behind the buildings, casting long rectangular shadows. The sun was a blazing orange that set fire to the clouds causing them to be filled with the same bright magnificnce. The lamp posts were displaying a flikering white light that brightened the no longer busy streets. My surroundings looked colourless and dull.

"Great, now it's almost dark!"

"How are we going to make a fire without wood? You can't find wood in a city!"

"I'm hungry! What are we going to eat?"

"Where are we going to sleep? We have no sleeping bags and no safe place to sleep."

"All my clothes and stuff are in the plane!"

I heard a million complaints and cries at once. Some had good questions.

"Everyone quiet please. Instead of geting what we need for ourselves, we are going to work in groups. We'll all work together and get through this!" I said, " Now I want Ayden and you three to find sleeping supplys, Patrick, Sydney and you two will get food supplys, Leah, Blain, Rose and I will get lots and lots of paper to get a fire going."

Just an hour in we were already having trouble. We were getting our supplys but very slowly. The hole in my gut was getting bigger. I was so hungry. The hunger inside of me turned on my imagination. My eyes tricked me into seeing two beings, one on each shoulder. On my left was a boy in a red suit, a spiked tail and a trident. It was like a little imatation of the devil. On my right shoulder was a boy dressed in a white robe, had a halo above his head and a harp in hand. I rubbed my eyes hoping it would go away but it didn't.

"Hey you." said the red boy, "You look hungry and tiered. You should relax and let them do all the work. You did enough already."

"He can't just quit!" the angel boy said, "He is just as hungry and tiered as them and they are still working. You may be the heart of the team but that doesn't mean you get to have special privlages. If you're the heart of the team you need to act like it; be a mentor, even if Blain isn't being one."

I looked over at Blain who was halfway through a tin of cinna-bons. I made my decision to act like a leader and the two boys vanished and I was pushed back into reality. I walked over to Blain who had icing around his lipps and had 8 diciples who imatated his every move.

"Seriously? You ate the whole tin?"I asked

"Nope I still have one left." he said

"Blain I want you to be completely honest with me. Are you depressed?"

He was silent for a moment but then a load of words started to spill from his mouth.

"One of my personalitys are fighting my conscience and my imaginary friend is running with scissors."he said rushed

"Wow!" I chuckled, "Emotional? What's the matter you and your army of pugs just ate our group's entire dessert."

A few people looked my way when I said that. When we were stuck in our city we didn't have any sweets because they either went bad or all the not-so-wise kids ate them all.

"Well it's nothing! I think I just might be a little homesick, that's all." he said

"Blain," I said putting my hand on his shoulder, "You're not the only one that's homesick."

"You're just saying that to make me feel better." he said

"Am I?"

I got up and looked around. Everyones attention turned to me.

"Everybody, I want you all to be completely honest. Who here is homesick, hungry, or even scared?" I asked

Sydney, John's "Girlfriend" was one of the first to put up her hand. Patrick joined and I knew it was complete honesty. Ayden, Leah and Rachel put their hands up together. Rose slowly put up her hand as Blain was watching. He turned to me and I put up my hand. It was as true as the ocean-blue. I was Hungry, we all were. I missed my home. I imagined my house, the brick foundation, the clear, smooth, windows, the nice, dark shingled roof. I missed my brother Zac and my parents. I was even embraced to say, I was scared.

"Everybody we're all afraid, we're in the same boat. But we all stick together, no matter our fears or differences. We're all kids, we're expected to be scared, don't be ashamed of it." I said

Blain slowly lifted his hand and the matter was settled. I went to bed feeling calm and peacfull. Everything was going our way.
