"Okay guys. Let's rest." I said
We all sat down, put down our back packs, and set up camp. Some kids had tents, others slept under the stars. I set up my sleeping bag and sat down. Some kids wander off geting things to burn or eat. Others started fires and some just fell asleep. I was around a fire with Blain, Rose, Leah, Sydeny, and John. I looked around to see the three boys had their own private fire. Ayden, Antonio, Patrick and a boy I didn't know were sharing a fire. And another group was sharing a fire. I sat there quiet. Just listening to the others.
"You wouldn't think I could borrow the suit, do you?" Blain asked
"Heh heh. No." John said seriously
"Do you want another arm wrestle?" Blain asked
"Sure." Rose said
They started off fine, then she kissed his head again like last time.
"That aint goin to work on me this time." Blain said
This time she kissed him for real. He forgot he was in a contest and his arm went dead, letting her win. I looked over at John and Sydney who had each others arms around each other. I looked over at Leah.
"Oh no. I'm not going to give you a good night kiss."
I chucked softly. I thought about the three boys. They somehow made me uneasy. Something made me suspicious about them. They whispered and had weird looks on their faces. I knew I was overreacting. All they wanted to do was join our group. I decided to focus my thoughts on something different like John's suit.
"Hey John?" I asked, "What are some of the features of you suit."
"Well, it can hover and boost. It still can't fly though. I have galva boomerangs, galva whip, galva knuckles."
"What's the circle for? Can you shoot a beam from it?"
"Nope. It's still and LED light. But my hand boosters that are straped to the palm of my hands can shoot someone back from the force."
"Anything else?" I asked
"Yeah. I have a flame thrower. My pilot light's out but sometime when we fight I can show you." he said
"You know, if you didn't have this thing in front of me, I wouldn't believe it existed." I said
"Yeah I know it's kind of hard to concept the idea of a boy walking around in a super technological robot suit." he said
"I wouldn't think it would be like this." Leah said
"What?" I asked
"The end of the world." she said
"Isn't that just a bit dramatic?" I asked
"Not really." Rose said, "Since half the world population is basicaly dead."
I sighed. They were right. The world is just a wasteland now, ready to be thrown away. It was weird. I let my mind wander. I wondered about Johnatan and the rest of the west side. I wondered about what would happen to the group. I wondered what would happen when we would raid S.T.E.A.L's base. I kept spiraling into dark and unanswerable thoughts. My thoughts were inturrupted by Blain.
"Why don't you do the cool fire work thing with your arrows?" he pleaded
"I'll do that when we need it." I said
I got up and tested my bow and accuricy. I took a good look at a wanted poster 100 meters away. I looked at the shape, size, distance. I made notes in my head about angle and power. I looked away, taking the bow in hand. I took out a standard arrow and feeling the feathers and cord, I got ready. I pulled the arrow and cord back slowly and fired. I heard the arrow cut the air and into wood. I looked over at the arrow that was embeded in the wood. I went over took it out and layed down. I knew I hadn't lost my touch. I fell asleep that night knowing I was ready for anything that would come my way.
