NICKS POV

I got into the car and was greeted by my mom. The drive home was quiet, but I didn’t feel like talking.

MIKEY: Bro!

ME: I told her.

MIKEY: YOU TOLD HER?!

ME: Yeah.

MIKEY: Why?!

ME: I guess it was the right moment? I don’t know.. I just said it!

MIKEY: WHAT DID SHE SAY?!

ME: Nothing.

MIKEY: You don’t want you two to turn out like you and Alexa.

ME: Don’t even bring that up.

MIKEY: Sorry.

I stared at my phone. Maybe I made the wrong decision. Why did I have to tell her? I might have risked losing one of the best person in my life.

LILLIANA POV

Nick and I didn't talk after he said that he liked me. We went a few weeks just giving each other awkward looks, or awkward smiles in the hallways. It was weird.

Luckily, Christmas break came quickly. But, since I had horrible luck, I was sick. Perfect. But hey, at least it was Christmas break, right?

I laid in my bed thinking about what Nick. About what he said. About the awkward silences. The past weeks. Just him in general. I don't know why it bugged me so much. I don't know why I cared. But, something in me made me worry, it made me care too much for someone who I assumed didn't mean anything to me.

I coughed my guts out for about an hour and decided to call Nick. We needed to talk about this weather he liked it our not. I dialed his number and pressed call.

Even though I didn't want to talk about it, I knew that it'd be the right thing to do. Especially since it bugged me so much.

“Hello?” his voice sounded tired… Raspy.

NICKS POV

Lilliana and I didn't talk for a few weeks leading to today. She seemed to be avoiding me, or maybe it seemed that way because I was avoiding her. I don't know why I was, but something in me told me to.

I had numerous thoughts to talk to her, call her, anything. But I always ended up chickening out when I'd see her with her friends, laughing and being happy. I was confused because it bugged me so much that I couldn't be as happy as her. That I was hung up over the whole thing, and she didn't care.

I took a nap once I got home, but as I was falling asleep, I got a call. I looked at my screen ‘Lilliana:)’ flashed. I immediately answered it.

“Hello?” I said.

“Hi, Nick.” she replied. Her voice sounded dry. It sounded as if she was losing her voice.

“Are you okay? You sound sick.”

“Haha, yeah just a cough.” She coughed out.

“oh, I see.” I said.

“So… About what you said a few weeks ago..” She said.

“Yeah..?” I answered.

“Well… Why?” She asked.

“Why what?”

“Why do you like me? Out of all girls, me?”

“Haha,” I laughed, “Lilliana, you’re sweet, loving and caring. You’re so down to earth and you can always brighten up my day. Just seeing you happy can make my day. That’s why.” I said. I guess I couldn’t sum everything up into words, but that was enough. She was quiet n the other like "Lilliana?”

She coughed, “Nick I need to tell you something.”

LILLIANA POV

After hearing what he said, something inside me clicked.

I coughed, ”Nick I need to tell you something”

“What?” he asked.

“I kinda sorta really like you too.”
