CHAPTER FOUR

That night while waiting for Aireen's text or call, he was reading his ex's letter...

To Jacob,"No distance is too far between us Gah,nobody can keep us apart. I will always love you, now and forever. I love you to the moon and back." Jacob felt the pain again... he took another letter "We dream together,Our future plans: Be engaged get married,Travel a lot, eat a lot (for me), Collect things together, treasure moments, don't forget to work harder,have babies at least three,four it doesn't matter( or five!) and build a happy home with you, your mom and our kids... I love you so much Gah".
He found himself crying, he missed all the happy memories they had with Felicity. Felicity was diagnosed with cancer. she did not tell Jacob about her condition, it was too late when he discovered about fel's condition and it was too late. Felicity spent her remaining months writing a letter to Jacob. a letter for his birthday every year, she made it in advance.. she even write a letter to his future wife..
"Dear Darren's wife,
It was so sad knowing i can never meet you, but I am happy that Jacob have chosen you to be his wife, you must be beautiful, sweet and caring.
I only ask you one thing, please love him unconditionally. he deserved more than that. Please make him happy always, always be there for him, tease him and hug him. Look into his eyes and tell him you love him more than anything, whisper words that he loved to hear. He loves music, he plays his piano everytime he felt sad or missing someone.
He loves coffee(such a coffee addict) , he loves to sing, watch movie with him but remember that he hates horror movies.
But most of all, Be honest to him.

He is half asleep when his phone beeps up, he received a text "We are going to malapascua tomorrow, that would be our date, Aireen"...
He sent a reply, "Okay, pick you up at North Bus Terminal 5am sharp, we will use my car, see you"..
He Grab his Bag and cameras for tomorrow, he set his alarm at 3am and sleep...

The next morning, He pick them up at the North Bus Terminal, together with Aireen's workmates. He opened his Car's front seat and ask her to sit beside him", Aireen gave him a snob.
her friends introduce themselves to Jacob,..."Hi Im single,hahaha joke I'm Kearl.. Jacob grab her hand and smile.. "Im Darren Jacob, or you can call me dj if you want"...
Once settled, they traveled from North Bus Terminal to Maya port.
The travel time is too long, good thing they bought their own foods except for Jacob... While everyone is busy eating, he took a glance to aireen's food, She noticed him. "Are you hungry?" Aireen asked..." are you kidding me? I haven't eaten anything yet". Jacob replied sarcastically...
Aireen offered him a sandwich,..."How am i going to eat that? I'm driving", Jacob said..."Ay ganern? Susuboan pa kita?, pwede naman po tayo huminto para kumain ah",...
Jacob: "Hindi pwede, Malayo pa yung tatakbohin natin para maka abot sa Maya Port, Baka sa hapon na tayo maka rating doon"...
Kearl: "Gurl, suboan mo na para sweet hahaha!"..."Che! isa ka pa, ikaw na dito oh",Aireen replied.." No, No, No Gurl, sayo na ang korona"!
Every one in the car was laughing at Aireen.
She hold the sandwich near his mouth and he took a bite on it.. "Happy now?!", Aireen said...
Jacob: " Pahinging tubig Please..."
Aireen opened a bottle of water and gave it to Jacob, " Kaya mo na yan, Wag masyadong pabebe!" Aireen told him.

After eating, Aireen's friends are sleeping already...

Jacob: " You can sleep if you want".
Aireen: " wag na, Okay lang ako."
Jacob: "May i ask you something?"
Aireen: "what?"
Jacob: " When i accidentally bump into you at Chiang Mai, I noticed your red eyes, are you crying that time?"
Aireen: "I don't want to talk about it."
Jacob: " Okay, I respect your privacy".
"But let me open something to you if its okay with you...", Jacob asked
Aireen: " it's fine".
Jacob: "okay, the reason why i was there in Thailand is to escape the reality I'm facing here.. ang dami kasi nag hahabol sakin eh, I need a break!"... Jacob Laughed,.."Humanap ka ng kausap mo", Aireen replied..
Jacob: "Ito naman hindi na mabiro, Actually, I lost my Girlfriend a couple of years ago, she died in cancer, she didn't let me know because she doesn't want me to worry about her. When she died, I totally lost everything, My bestfriend,girlfriend,a wife like she's everything to me.
I became alcoholic, Palagi nalang akong napapa away sa labas, the agony is real, I was so depressed and helpless, I almost commit suicide that time.. and that was the reason why I was there at Yi Peng Lantern Festival...
Aireen: "sorry to hear that",... "It's okay, It was a long time ago"... Jacob replied and gave her a smile.

The silence filled inside the car...
Aireen: " Sorry sa inasta ko doon sa restaurant mo".
Jacob: "Wala na yun, Past is past".

After 4 hours of travel, they reached the Maya Port, he left his car at the port because they have to ride a "Bangka" from Maya port to Malapascua Island...
It took them less than an hour traveling by a boat to reach the Island. The view from a distant shore was Amazing!..
