Ruby graduated high school in about a month. She was in advanced classes and planned to go to the best college she could get into. Tyler wanted her to graduate like he never did. He wanted both of his kids to be educated and he wanted just the best for them.
Jenna had helped Ruby pick out a beautiful chiffon white dress with yellow flowers on the bottom. She picked out a pearl necklace and she wore the heels Jenna wore to her and Tyler's wedding.
Her friends were all jealous of how beautiful Ruby looked on graduation day.
Tyler had a speech prepared of course. Him and Josh sat Ruby down on a nearby bench and began to lecture.
"Please don't forget about me" Josh fake cried.
"Uncle Josh I'm going to college not across the world" she laughed.
"Yeah but you better visit whenever you have the chance" he wiped his fake tears.
It was then Tyler's turn.
"If you want a boyfriend you can call me and I'll find you one, please don't skip away with some frat boy who doesn't know his left hand from his right foot" Josh snorted at what Tyler said.
"Please stay safe and don't go to stupid party's with people who will pressure you into gross things I never even want to think about" Ruby snorted at that one.
"And please please call me like everyday" Tyler wiped a real tear.
"Now go get them tiger, grab that portfolio, throw your hat, and then hop into the bus we are going somewhere fun afterwards"
They both rolled their eyes at Josh's foolish behavior.
Ruby joined her class in line and waited for her name to be called. She was the 16th person due to her last name. The entire family overlooked her from the crowd.
Once her name was called she first heard Alex yell. "Goooo rubyyyyyy" which made her grin.
And louder than any family there, everyone cheered for her. Josh randomly pulled drumsticks out of his back pocket and started drumming on Tyler's back.
"Yeah yeah yeah made it this far kid" Tyler sang and Josh bobbed his head.
They threw their hats and when Ruby turned around to pick hers off the floor a boy that looked her age picked  it up for her. This is exactly what Tyler warned her about.
"Um thanks" she said, her first time talking to a boy other than about schoolwork.
"No problem" he smiled. "You look really nice" he blushed and so did she. "Thanks in you look nice too" she had nothing else to reply with.
"Hello boy I've never met who is talking to my daughter" the boy smiled and said
"See you around" then walked away
"The speech I gave you was literately less than an hour ago" he laughed.
"He picked my hat up, and I said thanks nothing happened dad" she kissed his cheek.
"We have a gradation dinner to get to, let's go" he changed the subject
The family ate dinner, then went out for ice cream.
"I have something for you" Tyler put Ruby's hands over her eyes.
"No presents please" Ruby insisted, yet he took her outside anyway.
"Holy frick" she yelled "a car?!" Tyler's smile widened when he saw how happy his daughter was.
"Let's take it for a spin dad" she hopped in the front seat, and Tyler in the passenger.
Beforehand Tyler put a cd in the radio he had made himself. Lovely played as they left the parking lot of the ice cream place.
"Please stop growing, first you, then Alex, and then my grey hair takes over my life, it's all going too fast" Tyler stated
"Awww dad, just think of it as a chance for you to relax and is taking care of you" Ruby told him.
"Oh miss college student, when do you plan on making time for me?" He mocked.
"Dad I'll be back home as soon as you know it ya know with my degree and big house" he joked.
"Ever since the band thing blew over I've just been so not busy, and I need something to do. I need my Ruby to hang out with me" Tyler was now an old man. His laugh lines hid his smile, and his wrinkles masked the perfect skin he used to have.
"You have Josh to grow old with until I come back" Ruby stopped the car to hold Tyler's hands.
"I love you dad" she choked out from behind her tears.
"I love you more angel" he cried out himself.

You're an angel falling down won't you tell us of the clouds you have fallen from the sky how high how high?
Ruby take my hand
