It was back to college for Ruby in a about or week two, but before she left Tyler suggested a family outing.
Everyone else went back home leaving Tyler, Jenna, and their kids alone.
They went to see the Christmas lights that lit up the town, then for eggnog along the cold lake.
Jenna and Ruby brought blankets for the family to keep warm in, and some cookies Ruby made the night before.
"Aren't the stars so cool?" Alex pointed out to Ruby.
"Yeah like mom's eyes" Ruby and her brother Looked toward Jenna to get another glimpse of her winter blue eyes.
"Dad lets play football" Alex threw his dad the small football he had been carrying around.
"Show me what you got" Tyler hunched over to look like a football player.
"Boys against girls" Alex suggested.
"No fair you have dad, he used to be an athlete you know" Ruby mocked her brother.
"No way dad is that true?" Alex asked Tyler.
"Yeah actually, I used to play mostly basket ball, but your uncle Josh was good at every sport" Tyler reminisced the past.
"Fine since Ruby sucks at sports I'll be with mom and she can be on your team" Alex came to the conclusion that his expertise mixed with his mom's strategy would get them in the lead. His dad had Ruby, it was a good team, but not as good as his and Jenna's.
"Let's see what you got Alex" Ruby hunched over like her dad.
They played for two hours forgetting the time and getting lost in the moment.
"Can you believe it's like 10 o'clock and were out in the freezing cold playing football?" Ruby laughed at her family.
"This the most fun I've had in a while" Jenna pointed out.
"Same" Alex chimed in.
After walking back to the car, and driving home, the family got cleaned up and ordered a pizza.
"What movie do you guys wanna watch?" Their dad asked.
"Dad show Alex the movie twenty one pilots sang for" Ruby told her dad.
"Oh yeah it came out before he was even born, it's Called suicide squad. Your uncle Josh and me wrote a song and they put it in the movie" Tyler smiled as he thought about the past.
They ate pizza and watched the movie, but less than half an hour in the family fell asleep one by one.
Tyler was still awake staring at the screen but not paying attention to anything in particular.
He kissed Jenna's forehead and then half carried Alex up the stairs into his bedroom. Tyler then took a picture of Ruby and Jenna sound asleep on the couch next to each other. He posted it on Instagram with the caption "my girls are better than yours" and chuckled at his sarcasticness.
"Stay alive its worth it I promise" he whispered to himself
