Natsu sighed and grabbed his water bottle from the side of the stage, taking a long, slow swig, allowing his sore throat to be calmed after singing endlessly for around two hours. Drama Club could sure be exhausting, but he loved it all the same. As he put the cap back on the bottle he took notice of one of the techy's, sitting alone in the left wing of the stage with a scowl on his face. Gray was his name, or at least Natsu knew the boy by that name. Gray was well known for being an art prodigy, excelling in subjects that he could draw freely in, while also being able to turn a painting into an almost look a like to a photograph.

He liked to paint the backrounds and sets for the musicals, and sometimes would help with figuring out where props and the like would go with the clubs leader, Megan. Natsu had never talked to the boy,  but had heard from a couple people that he was nice but a little cold. Natsu grinned brightly and hopped up on stage, thanking the few years he did gymnastics as he now has incredible upper body strength, and made his way over to the teen. "Hello! Sorry to bother you but you seemed upset and I wanted to see if I could help?" Natsu chirped, crossing his arms over his chest.

"I'm going to prom." Gray deadpanned, glaring at the wooden stage floor. Natsu gave him a weird look and sat on his knees in front of Gray. What's so bad about prom? Natsu had planned to go with Lucy, Erza, Jellal and Loke as a group, and anticipated the night as if it were going to be the best one he'd ever had.

"I figured going would be fun. It's your senior year, after all." Natsu recalled, putting a finger on his chin as he remembered that Gray was a senior.

"I didn't want to go! I wanted to stay home and be by myself or with my sister or brother. I don't want to go to a dance that I can't even dance in."  Gray sighed, mumbling the last bit to himself so Natsu wouldn't hear.

"Oh? But then why go if you are so against it?" Natsu asked curiously, rocking back and forth on his legs. Gray took a deep breathe and began to explain how his date, named Juvia, was forcing him to go with her.

*Flashback*

Gray stuffed his already crinkled schedule into his pocket as during this semester the principle had decided to swap around the classes and such and started on his way to lunch. Suddenly he felt a small tug on his shirt and turned to find a slightly shorter, blue haired girl behind him and wringing her hands nervously. "Hello. Can I help you with something?" Gray asked, slightly annoyed that this girl was keeping him from his food.

"U-Um, Gray-sama I w-was wondering if you'd like t-to go to p-prom with m-me?" The girl, who Gray now recognized as Juvia, stuttered out. Gray shook his head with an emotionless face.

"Sorry, but I'm going to have to say no. I have no interest in you." Gray said, trying to be polite but ending up just sounding like an asshole in the end. People who had stopped to watch stared at Juvia with bated breath, wondering how she would react, but never did they suspect she would start yelling and screaming...

*End of Flashback*

"then she called her mother, who called my mother. Now I have to sit and listen to her talk endlessly about what kind of dress she wants, what kind of flowers she wants, what time and how she wants to arrive. And to put the topper on the cake, she's not going to dance at all." Gray finished, looking severely irritated at the thought.

"Damn, I feel sorry for the bastard that has to marry her." Natsu chuckled, causing Gray's lips to twitch upward for a second. "Well, maybe try and convince her to dance...if not I need some help practicing my waltz." Natsu offered, grinning childishly at the teen. Gray smiled a bit and laughed, nodding at Natsu.

"I might take you up on that offer." Gray told Natsu, standing and stuffing his hand into his pocket awkwardly as he held out his other hand to help Natsu up. Natsu excepted and allowed himself to be pulled up, brushing off his red, dragon patterned shirt and jeans while Gray straightened his coat and groaned slightly as the image of Juvia appeared in the doorway. Gray bid Natus goodbye and walked towards the girl who took his arm as they walked out of the room. Natsu grinned a bit, feeling quite smug that he had basically stolen someone's prom date out from under the dates nose. There was also the fact that he was a rather attractive guy.

Natsu leaned on the wall and smirked. He couldn't wait until prom night.

-

When prom night came Natsu dressed in his best tux and met the others outside in Erza's truck which Natsu envied to no end. "Hey, guys!" Natsu said happily as he hopped in the bed of the truck where Loke and Lucy sat. Lucy wore a beautiful pink and red gown with her hair in a bun. The gown was flowy and had ruffles, but not to many, and she held a pair of high heels in her left hand with her purse on her lap.

"Hey, Natsu!" Lucy grinned, bracing herself as Erza took off. Before Natsu could reply he tried to hold back barf and leaned over the side of the truck slightly so if he did puke it wouldn't be on anyone important. Lucy rolled her eyes and talked with Loke while Natsu tried not to get sick on other cars.

After a few more minutes they arrived at the Highschool where prom was to be held. Already loud music could be heard from inside, and people were walking in a line to get inside. They all jumped out of the truck, Natsu was tempted to hug and kiss the ground, and walked towards the entrance, eventually getting in.

Natsu immediately noticed Gray and Juvia in the corner sat at a table, neither making a move to say something. Ditching his friends Natsu made his way over to the couple, and tried striking up a conversation. "Hey, Gray! How's it goin?" Natsu said non-chalantly, grinning wildly.

"Hey, Natsu. It's good. You?" Gray said, barely managing to be loud enough over the music.

"I'm fine!" Natsu chuckled and sat on Gray's side and began to chat with him. A few times Gray would half-heartedly ask Juvia to dance when certain songs where playing. Natsu assumed they were his favorites. Natsu sat and watched them for a while before becoming bored and standing, offering a hand to Gray. "May I have this dance?" Natsu laughed, bowing slightly. Gray immediately accepted, grabbing Natsu's hand and dragging the pinkette to the dance floor, leaving before they got to see the surprised and angered look that Juvia had on when this happened.

Through the night Gray and Natsu both danced together happily, practicing dance numbers from the musical and just being plain goofy. Natsu thought that at one point he saw Lucy walk over to Juvia's table, but he wasn't sure. He'd have to ask later.

Soon prom ended and Natsu and Gray left the dance floor and walked outside to wait for the people they came with. "Hey, Natsu?" Gray asked suddenly, turning to the younger with a closed eyed smile.

"'Sup?" Natsu questioned, clearing his throat when he realized he was still holding hands with Gray from when they were dancing.

"Can I have your number and possibly a date?" Gray asked quickly, a slight blush on his cheeks, though it was too dark to be seen clearly.

Natsu nodded in response, kind of surprised that Gray would advance, and took the phone that Gray held in his phone, adding his number into Gray's contacts just as everyone arrived. Juvia and Lucy both seemed to enjoy each other's company and both seemed to be good friends even though they had only met a few hours ago. Erza, Jellal, and Loke all appeared and everyone left with their respective people, but all Gray and Natsu could think about was what they were going to wear for the date. Maybe they should ask someone...
