Description: Phil has a surprise for Dan at Starbucks during his birthday

It wasn't like Dan hated people...okay maybe it was like that.

Dan Howell, twenty five years old and already thinking about the inevitability of death was sat in his bedroom, headphones in and blasting Muse into his ears at the loudest frequency possible, ignoring all the texts from his few friends just because he could.

Also because he hated people.

Dan was okay with staying like this forever. In his own little world, not having to worry about Louis's hair problems or Tyler's boy drama. Just him, his bed, the Internet, music...

"Daaaaaaaan." and Phil.

Sighing, Dan opened his eyes which he had closed after resting his head against his wall and groaned in response. "Yes, Phil?"

"I'm bored." Phil pouted, staring at the younger with puppy dog eyes.

"And what do you want me to do about it?" Dan asked, but couldn't help but chuckle at Phil's face.

"We should go get Starbucks." Phil stated, smiling brightly. "That would make me not bored." Phil tried to reason, already predicting what Dan would say.

"But Phiiiiiiil, that involves human interaction." Dan whined, taking out an earbud. Phil pouted, clasping his hands together and staring at Dan with puppy dog eyes.

"Please, Dan? I'll pay! Please...?" Phil pleaded. Dan shook his head no, glaring at Phil a bit.

"No, Philip. The only way I will even consider going is if we go to that anime shop down street afterwards. And buy stuff." Dan told Phil sternly, which made Phil light up.

"Done. Now can we goooooooo?" Phil asked happily, jumping around on Dan's bed. Sighing, Dan nodded and stood which made Phil cheer. "Yay! You're the best, Dan!"

Dan blushed, hating compliments. Phil should know this. They were best friends after all, had been since fourth grade. "Phil you twat, you know I hate compliments!" Dan groaned, looking down and hoping his fringe would cover up his face.

"I know, that's why I said it." Phil grinned innocently, punching Dan's shoulder lightly before walking out of the door. Dan followed slowly, silently cursing Phil for making him blush.

After about twenty minutes after they had left the house they had managed to make it to Starbucks.

The place wasn't all that busy for a Tuesday afternoon, which calmed Dan down a bit. The less people he would have to awkwardly make eye contact with the better.

Phil had waltzed right in and up to the counter, immediately ordering his drink then ordering Dan's. Since Phil normally ordered, he had memorized Dan's drink.

Dan had sluggishly entered the small building, sitting in a booth next to a window and going onto Tumblr, liking and reblogging a few posts here and there.

"Here you go, sir!" A cheery voice said, placing a coffee cup in front of him. Nodding a thanks to Phil, Dan grabbed his cup and started drinking the steaming hot substance, ignoring the burning feeling inside his mouth. "So, Dan."

"Mm?" Dan hummed into his cup, looking up from his phone.

"I got you a present."

Almost choking on his coffee, Dan looked at Phil strangely and surprised. "Why?"

"Because it's your birthday, silly! It's not much..." Phil sighed a bit sadly, taking a thick, and rectangular package out of his inside coat pocket.

"Phil I told you not to get me anything!" Dan groaned, but excepted the package anyway. Opening it up he expected something cheesy, like a photo album of there time together, or a picture of the both of them acting dumb.

But when he opened the present up, he found neither. Inside was a pair of headphones, which were plugged into a tablet. The tablet turned on when Dan clicked the button, immediately opening up to a video.

Confused, Dan clicked play. His face popped up on the screen, his very first video to be exact. Cringing at it, Dan wondered if Phil was pranking him until it changed. Pictures of Dan as he got older kept showing up quickly, a pleasant song playing through the headphones which Dan had put in.

Suddenly a girls face popped up. Someone he had never seen before.

"Hello, Dan!" Another face popped up, a boys.

"We wanted to wish you a special happy birthday!" Another face popped up.

"We want to thank you, Daniel James Howell." Another face.

"You're amazing. You probably don't even know how many lives you've saved." Another.

"You've done so much for us, and it's time we gave you back as much of the happiness you've brought to us to you as we can." Another.

"You're so important, Dan."

"We all love you to pieces."

"We love your personality."

"Your smile."

"Your laugh."

"Your memes." -Dan chuckles a bit, a small and happy smile gracing his face.

"Your random videos that somehow bring light into our lives."

"And most of all," all the faces had popped up and said this in sync.

"You're the best friend anyone could ask for." Phil's face said, popping up with a small smile. "Hello, Dan." Looking up at Phil with shock, Dan's eyes watered a bit. Was this really all just for him? Looking back down at the screen, Dan saw Phil also had whiskers which made him chuckle a bit.

"I hope you liked this. All those people you saw talk to you were fans. And there will be more. But I wanted to be able to thank you, Dan. I know you think highly of me because I was your first best friend, because I was the first person to except you for you. But I also think highly of you...

You brought out the side of me you see now. You made me more confident. I guess we both helped each other in that way, huh?" Phil chuckled a bit. "I could never wish for a better friend, let alone want one. You are an amazing person. I want you to know that. We
want you to know that."

"We love you, Dan!" What sounded like millions of voices said at once.

"And I love you as well." Phil's voice rang in Dan's ears. "Have a nice birthday, Bear..."

Dan looked up once again to see Phil standing and staring down at the screen with a soft smile. "You like your present?"

Dan said nothing, just sat the tablet down and stood, pulling Phill into a bone crushing hug. Phil chuckled, and hugged Dan back just as tightly, his head falling on Dan's chest. "Thank you..." Dan whispered, small tears falling from his eyes and onto Phil's shirt.

"No problem, Bear." Phil grinned, pulling away and looking up slightly into Dan's brown eyes. Dan grinned as well, trying to rid himself of tears.

"I love you too, by the way." Dan chuckled, blushing slightly. Blushing as well Phil chuckled too.

"Well I hope so because the question I'm about to ask right now will determine what kind of love." Phil said nervously. Dan looked at Phil suspiciously, already thinking of what Phil meant.

"What is it?" Dan asked.

"Will you...will you...erm, I don't really know how to ask properly...but would you like to, I don't know, want to go out sometime?" Phil asked quickly, closing his eyes and bracing for rejection.

"Yes."

Phil's eyes snapped open wide. "You...you said yes?" Grinning, Phil launched himself at Dan, laughing. "Oh I'm so glad you said yes."   Phil sighed. Dan chuckled too and hugged Phil back.

"Why would I say anything else?"
