There wasn't much conversing during the car ride. Luke's fingertips would occasionally push the foward button on the dash to change the song. I stared out the window, while in thought about how this date would turn out. Finally the car came to a stop at an Olive Garden. Luke turned off the car and looked at me. "Is this place alright?" He gave me a nervous smile. "Of course! I really like this place."
We both walked towards the door and there was a sweet tension between us. Our hands barely grazed across eachother a couple times before Luke finally took ahold of my fingers inbetween his. He gave a gentle squeeze to my hand and looked down at me with a silly grin plastered across his face. "You look so beautiful." The blonde boy said as his cheeks flushed. "Thank you." I spoke glancing away from his aqua tinted eyes. Luke had already made reservations so we sat straight down across from each other in a small booth.
My eyes scanned the menu and I just decided on a pasta, which I wasn't sure was a good idea because everyone knows the no pasta rule on a first date. I just hoped I wouldn't make a fool of my self and end up spilling it on my clothes. Luke and I ordered and we sat there for awhile engulfing down breadsticks and discussing plans for the summer. "Do you and your mom have any vacations planned in the next few months?" Luke asked before taking a sip of his water. I wiped my mouth with a napkin then spoke. "I don't think we have the money for all that this year and since my mom is starting a new job, she can't ask for that much time off." Luke nodded. "Same for me. My parents were never that much for vacations. They sent me to summer camps a few times when I was younger, but there were never family holidays." Before I had a chance to reply the waitor brought our food to the table and set down my meal infront of me. "Now here is your food pretty gal." The waitor said with a wink. I felt my cheeks warm up. "Creep." Luke muttered under his breath. Once the waitor left, after setting down Luke's food with a glare, I spun my fork around in the noodles. "Calum, that guy you met this morning, is throwing some house party Saturday. I wasn't sure if I was even going to go because some of the people there make me a bit uncomfortable," Luke laughed, "would you want to maybe come with me?" Luke asked. I covered my mouth emberassed that it was taking me time to answer because i was still chewing down my food. "I would seriously love too, but I have my best friend coming to visit. If she can maybe tag along then of course I'll come." Luke swallowed his food and said with a smile, "That's perfectly fine. More the merrier."
The rest of our conversations taking place at that small worn out booth were old school stories of Luke's. He told me about the time he won his school talent show junior year by acousticly singing Pumped Up Kicks by Foster The People. He also told me about how him and Calum have known eachother since middle school. When he told me he wrote songs in his past time, I couldn't help but feel my heart beat faster. This boy had some incredible qualities.
Once we were done eating Luke of course insisted on paying, which I wasn't very suprised about. We left the restaurant hand in hand. He opened up the passenger door for me to let me crawl in. I had definitely gotten to know this strange, capturing boy a bit more. Besides that I have also begun to like Luke more than before.
