Neighbors

{Chapter 13}

(Authors Note- I'm extremely sorry for not updating lately! School is so time consuming but I've decided to start making chapters longer & I've had some great ideas for upcoming chapters so stay tuned please! Thanks for reading btw!!)

   I felt the palm of Luke's hand lightly rest against the small of my back as we walked towards the stairway to get up to my apartment. The warmth of his touch through the cool summer air had caught me by suprise. I unpurposely jerked my back away from his touch.

"Sorry" He stuttered under his breath. "It's alright." I said smililing to myself. 

He was walking behind me, but It felt as if I could feel him watching my every step. I could overhear his nervous breaths over the silence of the emptiness around the apartments. 

"Did you have an alright time tonight?" Luke asked as we walked up a flight of stairs. I looked back and flashed him a smile. "It was great. Thank you." He nodded and looked away, but I saw his lips turn up into a grin. 

As we arrived at my apartment door, I turned around to look at him as my back leaned up against the black door. Luke stood infront of me as he rocked back and fourth on his heels.

"Don't forget about that party this weekend. I would really, uh, like it if you would come."

He spoke as he lightly bit down on his lip.

"I would really love to come. I'll be sure to get in touch with my friend tonight to see if she'd be ok with that, but I'm almost positive she'd love to come. We've both been deprived from a good party for too long."

"No promises it will be good." Luke joked. 

"It'll be fun if we make it fun. I know that for sure." I smiled at him reassuringly.

"As long as you come I know I won't be bored." He dug both of his hands into his pockets and we were both attached to eachothers stare. 

I felt my cheeks burn up and I pushed myself farther up against the door. The air between us seemed to freeze as I forgot what was actually going on. This boy I hadn't even known for 24 hours was completely mesmorizing me. 

As my thoughts seemed to slip out from under me, Luke leaned down infront of me. His face was now only inches from mine and I could feel the impact of his every exhale against my skin.

Just as the tip of his nose grazed mine the door holding me up completely shifted and i fell straight back. Luke straightened out his back and his expression quickly changed. Above me was my mom. She looked completely furious.

"Alice, inside now." She spoke with a tightened jaw.

I took one last look at Luke before my mom completely slammed the door in his face.

"I can expl-"

"Save it. First you don't even text me regularly like I told you to and secondly you are with some strange boy at nearly 10pm." She striked back viciously. She continued, "If you continue shit like this you're going back to you dads."

I didn't have any reply, so instead i just started walking to my room.

"I'm not letting you leave the house for the next week. I can't even trust you." I heard her say from behind me.
