Luke and I exchanged numbers and I told him I'd be ready to go whenever. He suggested 6pm, so I happily agreed. I made my way back up to the apartment completely forgetting the task my mom sent me out to do. When I got inside she was just laying back watching TV. "I met some friends around the area. They all were thinking about getting some dinner later. Can I please go? They'll pick me up." My mom was obviously a bit against the idea. I knew if I had said it was just one boy she definitely wouldn't let me go. Being raised by strict parents created me to be a good liar, which I'm not sure is a positive or negative thing.
Finally my mother agreed to let me go as long as I would keep her updated about every hour. I went to my bathroom to start washing up. The time on my phone read 4:03. The water of the shower was just right when I hopped in. When the warm liquid hit my body I finally felt relaxed enough to think things through. Maybe it was best to just keep some space from my dad for the next couple weeks. Was something actually going to come out of Luke and me. I had never really had a serious boyfriend. That doesn't mean I didnt kiss a few guys at partys and things. I wasn't really looking for commitment since school was so difficult. After thinking all this through, the thought entered my head that i wasn't thinking of what Luke even wanted. Who knows? Maybe he just wants to be friends. Hopefully tonight would answer that for me.
By the time I was done showering, blow drying my hair, and straightening my hair it was a little past 5:00. I put on some concealer then attempted winged eyeliner. It took a few tries, but finally I got it presentable. Then I ran a nude pink lipstick over my lips. I ran my fingers through my hair, while standing up straight infront of the mirror.
Luke had mentioned he would take me to a nice restraunt so I picked through my closet trying to find something. All my clothes weren't even unpacked yet and there was no time to look through boxes. I found a dark blue cotton strapless dress with mismatched grey prints. The dress perfectly accentuated my waist. It was short, but it wouldn't be a problem if I kept it pulled down. I got out my simple black heels and slid them on. As I rummaged through my jewelry box for silver hoops, my phone buzzed on the counter. It was a text from Luke that read *I'm here(:* I gave up on finding the earrings and instead ran over to grab my small black bag. I zipped my phone and some apartment keys into it and headed out the apartment. I yelled goodbye to my mom and she reminded me about texting her every so often. I finally made it outside and I could see Luke's car parked in the lot. Excitment ran through me and I had to look down while walking down the steps to hide my emberassing wide smile. As I got closer I could see him faced away from me and his palm tapped against the top of the steering wheel. It felt awkward just opening up his car door, but I wasn't able to get his attention. When I opened the door he quickly turned towards me. His lips barely parted as he looked me up and down. "Sorry I was kind of distracted, but now I'm pretty sure I'm more distracted by you." My cheeks flushed and I bit down on my lip. Luke quickly drew his hand through his hair. "I didn't mean to say that outloud, but you do look amazing." He said while gripping the steering wheel with both hands and starting to back out of the lot. "Thank you. You look pretty great yourself." He was dressed in long khaki pants and a light blue shirt that accented his eyes. "Thanks." He replied hiding a smile. I was lost for words for what even to talk about. Luke took away the awkward feeling between us by turning up music. "~Say yes, lets be alone together. We can stay young forever.~" I layed back in the seat and hummed along to the music.
