- Y/N Perspective -

It's been a few days since a new greenie arrived in the box, a girl, Mary was her name. Why were girls all of a sudden coming up? Ever since I arrived five months ago, it was girl after girl every month. The boys didn't seem to mind.. Well of course they didn't , they're boys. I chuckled at the thought.
Who knew one could change within the course of five months? My mind trailed off topic. I would never guess it but five months ago, I thought Athena and I would be the only girls out here in the maze. I remember being attached to Athena at the hip for several weeks. Athena was a runner, a very good one I might add. She had long brown hair, olive skin and had an athletic build. All the boys praised her, she was among the strongest people in the glade. I still can't believe the girl ever even talked to me. I sat at the foot of a large tree, staring at the glade and the monstrous walls that surrounded and towered over our little group like a prison. I hated the place and that's why every single day, I worked alongside Newt and Alby in the map room finding a way out, deciphering codes, thinking of anything that could free us. That was my job. Alby named it "The Brains" and I guess I was the keeper even though nobody really worked with me. I didn't really count Newt and Alby as part of the brains because they were in and out, sort of everywhere I guess you could say. I mean they were the leaders of the glade. Although Newt especially spent a lot of time in the map room with me.. Not that I'm complaining! I love being around him, he's very polite, protective, caring, the list could go on! My mind continued to wander into an abyss of thoughts.

"Y/N??" I snapped out of my thoughts as I heard the familiar English accent call my name. What was I even thinking about? My mind kept wandering, jumping from thought to thought. After about five seconds without replying to Newt's voice I quickly stood up and dusted off my dirty ripped jeans with my hands.
"Yeah?? Sorry I was just thinking. What do you need?" I replied as I continued to pat the dirt off my jeans.
"Nothing, I wasn't sure if it was your leg that I saw from behind the tree. Guess I was right! What were you thinking about greenie?" He said as he walked closer and leaned on the tree trunk while staring at the sky.
"Oh you know.. Life?" I giggled as I realized the only life I actually knew of were the past five months I've lived in the glade. "I guess I was just thinking about how I've grown since I first came." I said as I looked at Newt who still continued to stare at the sky and the cotton clouds afloat. He didn't reply for a while but I didn't mind, it was a quiet day at the glade which I quite liked. After what seemed like hours of staring at the sky with Newt, he sat at the foot of the trunk and I followed, soon realizing that all the effort I put into patting dirt off myself went to waste.
"Do you like who you are then?" He turned to face me. After all this time I spent with Newt I never realized how beautiful his brown eyes were or the fact that his dirty blonde hair framed his face perfectly. I stared at him for a second too long, he furrowed his eyebrows, looking confused.
"What?" He asked.
"I like who I am, ya.. To answer your question." I quickly replied not wanting to explain that I was focusing on his good looks.
"I like who you are too." He smiled and stood up, dusting off his pants. My stomach started to tingle, it was like I was being tickled. What was that? I thought to myself. "Well I better get back to work before Alby realizes I'm gone. You better get back to work too, we have rules remember, Y/N!" He said as he smiled sweetly and jogged toward the homestead where I assumed Alby would be.

"Y/N!" A voice exclaimed as I stood up to pat off the dirt on my pants. I turned around to find Mary panting like she just came back from the run of her life. "The runners are back!" She said, continuing to pant. It's been a tough few days for Mary, I imagined. She was a small girl, and not to mention, quite young as well, maybe the same age as Chuck, if not, younger. Mary was still figuring out which keeper she would be working with and today, it was my turn to see if she was capable of working with the brains.
"Alright greenie, time to see if you're up for this job." I started jogging towards the map room. Mary, although she was small, she was strong, I could tell through her determination and watching her work with different keepers. I was excited to see what she could do.

Mary's face filled with astonishment as she entered the map room. I can't blame her, all the maps, numbers, codes, I would be pretty overwhelmed. A few seconds later, Minho and Athena stormed in, startling Mary.
