First of all, none of these brilliant characters belong to me. They, and the world of Ranger's Apprentice, belong to the incredible John Flanagan.
I've always been disappointed with John Flanagan's decision to kill off Alyss in The Royal Ranger. I mean, I understand why he had to - character motivation and all that - but it was heartbreaking losing my favorite character in that way. So I'm trying to rewrite their story as if Alyss survived the fire at the Wyvern Inn. Mainly because I couldn't stand having Will lose Alyss.
This story begins about eight months before the Royal Ranger.
