Karina POV
I sat quietly, watching Karley sleep.
This had to be at least the 12th time I've finished crying today.
My sister is gone. My brother-in-law is gone. The only two people who ever cared about me in the world, Gone. Just like that.
The only person I have left is Karley, and she is gonna need me to be strong. I have to take care of her. I have to. For my sister and brother.
I picked up the phone and dialed the number for the company that just hired me.
I've been sitting here for an hour hoping to avoid this phone call.
"World Wrestling Entertainment, may I help you?" A woman answered.
"Yes, my name is Karina Maldonado, I just recently got hired for the interviewer position and due to some family emergencies I can't take the job. Is there anyone I need to talk to directly?" I said trying to mask the sadness in my voice.
"Yes there is, will you hold on one second I'll transfer you to another line." She said.
"Okay, thank you." I said.
The phone started to ring again and another woman picked up.
"Hello this is Stephanie McMahon." She answered.
"Hello Mrs. McMahon my name is Karina Maldonado, I was recently hired as an interviewer. I called to let you know that I can't take the position due to a family emergency." I said again.
"Oh, well that's too bad. I personally pulled your file because I wanted you working with us. Do you mind if I know what happened?" She asked.
"No I don't mind at all. My uh, twin sister and her husband just recently passed in a house fire. Their 5 month old daughter is the only survivor of the fire and I am the only other family member they had. So I have a responsibility to take care of her and I can't do that if I'm on the road." I said trying to fight the tears that threatened to spill.
"Oh my goodness, that's horrible. I am so sorry for your loss." She said.
"Thank you." I said quietly.
"But, maybe we can work something out. What state are you in right now?" She asked.
"California." I answered.
"Oh Great, in what city?" She asked.
"San Francisco." I answered again.
"Awesome. RAW is actually going to be in San Francisco this coming Monday. I'll put you on the list to come backstage. You can bring your niece with you and we can talk more about what I can help you with. I mean, to take care of another little person and yourself you would still need to have a job and I want to help you with that." She said calmly.
I couldn't stop myself this time. I started to cry again, "Thank you." I said. It was the only thing I could get out.
"You're very welcome. And again I am so sorry for your loss." She said.
I thanked her again then hung up the phone.
I looked at Karley again as she slept then smiled a little.
"I'm gonna take good care of you baby girl. I promise."

Monday Night RAW
I walked the halls of the arena carrying Karley in her car seat, following the directions the security guard gave me.
I stopped in front of Stephanie McMahon's office and used my free hand to straighten out my outfit.
