Seventeen

8 ) Ice & Almost.

~Drew's POV~

The minute I saw the look on Lily's face, I stormed over and grabbed Jason away from Emily. I hit him square in the jaw, and then in the nose which took him by surprise as he fell backwards onto the floor. I gripped my hand tightly as it hurt from the force of the contact. I saw blood start pouring from one of his nostrils, as he wiped it away and I saw anger boiling inside of him, he hadn't even noticed Lily standing only metres away.

He lunged at me hitting me repeatedly, and I tried to dodge his attacks, but Jason was a very good fighter. He pushed me to the floor about the kick me, when Lily jumped at him dragging him away from me.

~Lily's POV~

"Get off of him Jason!" I screamed as I pulled him away from Drew who was lying helplessly on the floor. Jason didn't even turn around to see who it was attacking him, instead he pushed me slightly out the way and I also fell on the floor. I sat up seeing Levi and Drew thrown Jason to the floor, both looking furious. Drew's eye was turning black and he had scrapes across his cheeks. Jason turned to face me.

"Lily?" He managed to say as Levi pinned him down.

"Save it Jason!" Shouted Levi "We've all seen what you are capable of, I knew who you were from the beginning, no matter what act you were trying to pull"

"Lily let me explain-" He began

"We're done Jason, don't try and contact me again. I trusted you" I screamed before getting to my feet with the help of Austin. "Come on Levi" I said "He's not even worth it"

"You go near her again, and your going to get a lot more than a broken nose" Drew threatened

"You can't stop m-" He struggled under Levi's grip.

"Piss Off" Levi said before getting to his feet, and we all left the park quickly avoiding more of a scene which was already starting to gather around us. Before I left I heard Emily run over to Jason.

"Are you alright?" She asked worriedly.

"Get off me" Grunted Jason who walked away in the opposite direction leaving Emily alone once again.

We all got in my car, and returned home, luckily my mom wasn't home yet so we wouldn't have to explain to her what had happened. Levi, Nate and Austin sat down on the couches going over the events of today, and trying to calm Levi. With them distracted I pulled Drew into the kitchen.

"I'm sorry about that" Drew said "I've ruined your birthday" He looked sadly down at his hands which were moving nervously.

"No" I said "You didn't ruin my birthday, he did" I couldn't even bare to say his name. "I should have listened to Levi" I began to cry, completely breakdown in front of Drew. He wrapped his arms around me, but I felt him jump as he laid his cheek on the top of my head. I removed myself from his grasp.

"Let me get you some ice for that" I gestured to the bruise forming on his cheekbone and near his eye. I got a bag of ice from the freezer, and gently placed it on his face. He winced in pain at first, but let me hold it there. I looked into his eyes and he looked into mine, I could see him putting on a brave face. I may have been hurt mentally, but Drew was really the one who got hurt, and he had the marks to prove it, I couldn't never have imagined Jason to be that violent. I cursed under my breath looking at the damage he had done.

Drew's eye was swelling, which the ice had began to improve, his cheeks were red and marked, probably where he fell to the floor, and his bottom lip had a deep cut in it, which was bleeding rather heavily. I brought my free hand up and touched his face, gently I stroked the grazes on his cheeks, and I saw him watching me intently. I brought my hand down to just underneath he cut in his lip, this hurt me a thousand times more than Jason, seeing Drew in this way, because of me. I got a damp cloth and wiped away any blood, and gave him the ice to which he put on his lip which was also starting to swell. I didn't know what I was doing, but I lent up and kissed him on his bruised cheek, and whispered in his ear, so quietly that I'm not even sure he could hear.

"Thank you"

Later that evening when my mom had returned, we explained what had happened as she almost burst into tears at the state of Drew and Levi. We told her a lot more briefly than we had seen it because we feared that she could not handle the entire detailed story.

"Should we cancel the meal?" She asked me, and I was about to nod. I was no longer in the mood to celebrate my birthday, it had been a complete disaster.

"No, let's go" Said Levi "It's not everyday you turn 18, don't let that asshole ruin your special day" He smiled at me.

"Okay" I said knowing I was going to spend what was left of my birthday with the people most important to me.

Instead of Jason, we invited Sophia instead. The evening turned out to be really fun. I sat next to Drew and Levi round a table for eight. We all laughed about stories the boys were telling us about tour, and it made me for a moment, forget Jason even existed. The meal ended with the waiter bringing out a chocolate cake for me, and the whole restaurant singing Happy Birthday to me (Which was extremely embarrassing!). Sophia left after giving me her present which was a new pair of headphones, as mine had broken last week at school when Mr Hughes pulled them from my ears and told me to stop listening to music in class.

We all got ready to leave, and Austin, Nate and Levi decided to take the car with my mum. That left me and Drew to take my brand new car. We stopped before getting in and I leaned against the bonnet.

"This birthday has certainly redeemed itself!" I laughed "I had a great time tonight, regardless of what happened early, I'm glad you were here with me" Drew stood closely in front of me.

"I'm glad I was here too" He said

"You didn't have to do that for me today you know" I said wrapping my arms around his neck.

"I would do anything for you" He said leaning in closer.

"Drew you don't know what you've done for me"

Drew stays silent this time, we were so close our noses were touching.

"You don't know what you've done to me" He says before leaning in to kiss me.

Seconds before our lips touched Drew's phone rings from his pocket he sighs pulling away from me and answering it.

"Levi?" He asks "Yes we are coming! We'll be there in a second, Lily forgot her purse" He explains, and I climb into the drivers seat.

Was I really about to kiss Drew?
