CHAPTER 7: CULLEN NUMBER TEN
After thinking it through, I realized that today wasn't all that bad, honestly. Nobody committed an outrageous crime, so why was I acting like my father, of all people, had?
I sighed, the first sound in over two hours, and sat up. Jake had came with me to my house. I decided party house bothered me too much, and since it was supposedly meant to be mine, I would just call it my house. Jake looked at me, stunned that I was moving again. I smiled at him, rubbing my red-eyes. I had cried for almost two hours straight. "I'm so-" I yawned, and stretched, "So sorry about that. I guess I needed to get that out of my system." I told him, as I stood up to stretch my legs. He too stood up. I insisted- though my wailing like a baby- that he leave. He wouldn't, of course, he was too stubborn. "Are you alright..?" He said to me, taking me in his arms. "No, probably not. But for the sake of the outside world, yes." I replied. He nodded, "You're sure you don't want to lay back down?" he said to me, and I smiled. "Nope. I want to go apologize for being a baby about the whole thing. It wasn't even that big of an issue. But me, being me, turned it into a criminal offence." I said to him, hugging myself closer to him. He nodded, "Well, now what do you want to do?" He asked me. I felt the need to eat food. Lately I hadn't wanted too hunt, I had wanted eggs, or pancakes, or pasta. It was.. odd, to say the least. "I want to go make some pasta." I said to Jake, grinning. I felt the silent laughter rock him slightly, and I smiled to myself. "But first..." I began, looking up at his face, "I want to do this." I wrapped my arms around his neck, and pressed my lips to his with the feeling of relief, undiluted.
"That was.. an odd request. Not that you gave me a chance to say no." Jake said when I pulled my lips away from him, I rolled my eyes. "It wasn't a request, it was a demand. And also, you wouldn't have said no, so shush." I said to him, smiling all the while. He nodded, "You're right." he took my hand, and we started down the stairs, when suddenly Alice appeared in front of me. "Eh, hi Alice?" I said to her, and she smiled slightly. "You have a guest." she said, dashing out of the stairwell. We followed her down the stairs, through the lounge room, out the door, across the lawn, through the house and up to my bedroom where Rachel was waiting. "Hey, I didn't mean to bother you, but you left your sweater in the dance room and I wanted to make sure you had it for tomorrow, its supposed to be cold." She said from the couch, I smiled. "Thanks so much, I appreciate it. Just, out of curiosity, how long have you been here? I didn't mean to keep you waiting or anything." I said kindly taking my jacket. She smiled, "I came at about three thirty, Alice said you were.. busy. So we hung out for a bit. She told me that she would go get you now." Rachel announced, grinning. I smiled back at her, but shot Alice a 'Why the hell didn't you come and get me sooner?' look, but not long enough that Rachel would notice. "I better get going, I don't want to keep you from anything." Rachel said, getting up. "Er, I was going to go downstairs to get something to eat. You could stay. If you'd like, of course." I said, and her face lit up. I sensed she liked being here. It was probably the nicest house in.. well in all of Washington State. "Sure. If you don't mind. I wouldn't want to bother you." She said, and I rolled my eyes playfully. "C'mon." I said, walking into my closet. "Uhh.." she said. "Just follow me and you'll understand." I said, turning to smile at her. She did, Alice trailed along right behind her.
"A slide? You have a slide in your closet?" Rachel asked me. I laughed, "My au-" I began, correcting myself. "My Alice, well, she doesn't go half-way on anything. She is insane." I said to Rachel, yet eyeing Alice carefully. Alice nodded, and lipped 'Nice save.' to me. I nodded back. "She did this?" Rachel asked, stunned. "My mother, Esme, and my sisters Rose and Alice all love decorating, designing and spoiling me. Emmett and Edward, on the other hand, like building. So with the help of.. oh I don't even know. Anyway, my sisters and mother designed the house." I told her, thinking every word through. Jacob cleared his throat. "Oh! And Jacob, too." I said, correcting myself. Rachel smiled at Jake. "Lets go." I said smiling, and Alice launched herself down the slide, a little fast. I knew she was warning the others I was back from my little crisis, and oh, a human would be accompanying me. "After you." I said to Jake, and he went. "Are you with him? You know, with him." She asked, emphasizing the second 'with' and I nodded, "Yes." She smiled a warm, happy smile at me and went down the slide. I waited three seconds, and went down after her.
