8:00 pm on Friday

This was my chance. I could grab her in the cave and those boys would never know. She wouldn't even know. She was so quiet, with her long brown hair and big eyes. She reeked of innocence with a hint of something else. Something that separated her from the group. I took a step forward, about to enter the cave when I heard them bickering. Shit.

I quickly backed up from the dark opening as soon as I realized they were turning back to the entrance. I hurried into the wooded area just as they appeared from the shadows. I let out a breathe of relief. Man, that was close. I stared at the threesome who seemed oblivious to the additional footprints surrounding the muddy entrance. I was going to have to be more careful. Once they began on their journey, I slowly continued with mine.

I headed in a different direction to ensure that they wouldn't see me. I trampled along by myself for a while, being as quiet as possible. I had gotten pretty good at being silent and fast over the years.

I had started running a while back, but I slowed down once I heard the faint chit chat of voices. I scanned my surroundings. Thankfully, I was by my shed. I noiselessly approached, the wooden structure coming into view.

I had a quick debate with myself for a few seconds before deciding the best way to prevent this group from seeing me would be climbing one of the nearby trees. I jumped a bit to reach one of the branches before hauling myself onto it. I knelt down and pressed my back against the tree. I squinted my eyes to try to get a better look at the people.

There were two boys and one girl. The girl had long blonde hair and was wearing a onesie type thing.

I noticed a weird look come across her face as she looked down. Her eyes then looked to the sky and she looked around before her mouth opened and she let out an ear curdling scream. I felt fear cascade through my body in fear that she spotted me, so I inched around the base of the tree to hide more.

The two boys ran over to her and they began to talk to her. I couldn't hear them clearly, but it looked like the two were aggravated with her. They didn't look in my direction, so I was sure they weren't talking about me. A breath of relief escaped my mouth.

I watched as the two boys huffed and puffed, seemingly frustrated with whatever was wrong with the girl. I was going to wait until the group carried on, but I couldn't stop myself from watching the girl. Her face was painted with makeup, but her hair was pulled from her face in hair clips. She carried a purse across her body. It was clear this girl cared about how she looked, which intrigued me. I readjusted myself on my branch, shifting slightly to hear them better.

"Whenever my left pinky toe tingles, it rains." Her voice seemed small in the vast woods, but she seemed confident. I shook my head, not quite believing I heard her right. The boys looked at her, dumbfounded by her strange remark. They didn't question it, but the fact her hands rested on her hips meant that she wasn't kidding.

I realized that she was completely serious and that I had in fact heard her correctly. She would be perfect. She was pretty and dumb.

I decided I was going to to go ahead and head back to the house and prepare.

She was the one.
