3 hours later, I arrived in Ontario, Canada.
12:36 pm.
I'm now waiting for my dad to come pick me up from the airport, this could take forever for all I know. I sat down in a seat at the gate I came from, waiting.
1:06 pm.
About a half hour later, my dad is still not here. I decided its about time I call.
The phone rang and rang. No answer. Are you serious?
I left a voicemail.
"Hi dad, uhh.. its me Valerie. I'm waiting at the airport, where are you?"
Not even 5 minutes later I got a call from my dad.
I answered.
"Hello?"
"Hi, sorry I'm late. I'll there in a couple minutes."
"Oh okay." Was all I said as he hung up.
A few minutes later I saw my dad show up at the gate. The same dad i remember as a kid. Nothing really changed about him. He wasn't the average size, a little bigger. Still had a small beard and his short brown shaggy hair.
"Valerie!" He said walking towards me.
"Dad, hi." I said as I hugged him. I have to admit this was kind of awkward.
As i sat in his car, the ride was silent. An awkward silence.
"So.. how was your trip?" My dad said keeping his eyes on the road.
"Oh, it was fine." I said looking out the window. I saw him nod.
"How's your mom?" He said after a few minutes.
"She's fine, she has Carmen to keep her company now." I said even though my dad barely knew his own daughter because of the divorce. Which was my fathers decision.
"Thats good." He said as he cleared his throat and pulled up to small but cozy looking house.
"This is it." He said getting out. I got out his truck and grabbed my bags as he helped me with them.
We carried them inside. I looked around. Its honestly not to bad, not the best but it will do.
"Let me show you your room." My dad said walking upstairs still with some my bags. I nodded and followed him up the stairs.
He opened a door leading me into a small but nice room. It wasn't that bad. It had light purple walls, a desk over in the corner, a closet, a bed in the middle, and a window seat. Ive always wanted one of those.
"You set this all up?" I asked putting my bags on the bed where he put them down too.
"Yeah, do you like it?"
"Yes, its nice, thank you." I said and nodded. He smiled.
"The house is pretty small. My bedroom is right across the hall, theres a bathroom at the end of the hall and downstairs is the living room and kitchen. Pretty easy to get around." He said looking around.
"Okay, thanks."
"Yep. Oh, I also have one last thing for you." He said going downstairs.
"What is it?" I said following.
He opened the door to outside and I couldn't believe what I saw.
A black car, although it looked beat up and quite old.
"Its your car so you can get around, its old but it runs well." He said walking towards the running car.
"I love it." I said and smiled. I have my drivers permit so this will be perfect.
"Good, its a 2007 kia so I mean it can't be that bad.." He smiled at me.
"No, its perfect." I said. I'm just grateful for a car. My first car exactly.
"But it wasn't here a couple minutes ago?" I said confused. When i arrived here 5 minutes ago, there was only my dads truck which we were riding in.
"Our neighbors were in on this too. I bought it off our neighbors son. He recently got a new car." He said.
"Oh." I said still confused. So wait, can this car run on its own.? No, thats silly.
"You can come out the car." I heard my dad said loudly. Next the drivers door opened and out came a very attractive boy. He had brown hair with blonde highlights on the tips. He was quite tall too. And he was wearing a normal white t-shirt and black pants.
"This is our neighbors son." My dad said as the boy shut the door.
He walked towards me.
"Hi, I'm Grayson."
I bet you guys weren't expecting that ;)
