EIGHTEEN

"Valerie.. the world we live in isn't everything it seems to be. Theres a lot of things out there. Things no one has ever began to think about. Things that shouldn't been seen by the human eye. Things that shouldn't be seen in daylight. But rather.. After Dark."

I swear everything at that this moment changed. I didn't understand anything he meant by what he said but it felt like something clicked. I didn't want to push with the questions but I knew I had to.

"What do you mean?" I said and turned to Ethan.

He stayed looking at the ground, I swear he was contemplating on everything in life. Was this like his biggest secret? It felt like I shouldn't know.

"Ethan?" I said looking at him. He practically cut me off.

"When you saw supernatural things.. what came up?" He said still looking at the ground.

"Uhm, phoenix?"

I heard him chuckle and it lightened the mood. I chuckled too.

"Banshee? Hellhound?" I said trying to remember there list of things from last night.

"Werewolf?"

He looked up from the ground and I swear I could feel him tense from five feet away.

"Not even close."

I nodded and tried to keep thinking. I honestly felt stupid. Who wouldn't? Naming off fake creatures to try and figure out what this extremely hot guy was talking about.

"I got nothing else." I said and chuckled nervously, sighing at the end.

He nodded and looked down.

"I understand." He said and sighed.

Then it was silent and I remembered one more thing.

"Vampire?" I said looking up at Ethan.

It was silent once again. Then it felt like everything that didn't add up finally did. Could it be possible? Could Ethan be a vampire.? Not its not possible. This whole thing is whack. Right..?

He looked up at me and we locked eyes. His perfect hazel-golden eyes sparkled in the moonlight as his fluffy dark brown hair moved with the wind.

"We're monsters Valerie.. creatures that shouldn't be seen by anyone. By the naked human eye. Things that don't belong in the light of the day. Things that don't belong here.."

I swear if his heart was actually working it would've broke with that sentence.

He was a vampire.

A cold, undead, soulless monster..

But no matter what, I didn't think of him like that and I wouldn't no matter what he said. He was a normal teen in my eyes. An insanely perfect teenager, thats all. One that was misunderstood. One that shouldn't be seen. Or anyone to know about. But now I know. I know what he is and how he works. He trusts me..?

"You're not a monster Ethan. And no matter what you say will make me believe that."

"Valerie, we are killers." He said and stood up from the swing, growing frustrated. "We kill people. Drink blood Valerie. Haven't you seen it from the movies?" He said running his hands through his hair and chuckled in a frustrated tone.

"So what?" I said and stood up. I didn't really process what I just said. HE HAS KILLED PEOPLE VALERIE.

But no matter what I told myself in my head, it didn't change the fact that- I still wanted to be his friend, wanted to keep talking to him, and the feelings I was catching.. weren't dying down.

"So what?" Ethan said and faced me with his eyes wide. "Do you even hear yourself Valerie? I'm dangerous for you.."

I tried to think of what to say without getting him to worked up.

"If you're so dangerous, then why did you tell me?" I said taking a step towards him.

Then he was gone. He ran past the swings and into the trees that were about 20 feet away. At the quick speed that I knew I wasn't just seeing anymore.

I ran after him, obviously not right on his tail. I walked into the woods cautiously and there he dropped down in front of me catching me off guard.

I gasped taking a step back.

"I can't explain." He breathed out and it felt like he was just a normal teen.

"Yes you can Ethan. If you can tell me you're a vampire, you can tell me why you told me." I said and hesitantly took a step towards him. He looked frazzled and out of place. I felt bad.

"Valerie.." He took a deep breath, like it would help to calm him down. "Theres this connection I feel with you. That I've never felt with anyone. One that I can't describe. Its like you're the missing piece to complete my world. Like were a true pairing. One thats meant to be. At first I.. I kept pushing you away but now I know that theres no use. I need to be around you and I can't push you away. Not right now. Not ever. I don't know what I'm trying to get at, but I can't let you go.."

My mind was blown. I felt like I was shaking. Like this whole thing just didn't make sense. Did he practically just say he likes me..? It can't be possible. His words melted my heart, made my head spin, and made my breathing shaky. No one has ever spoke to me like that. Was this love..? No. No way.. I didn't know what to say.

"Ethan.. that was really sweet.." I paused feeling vulnerable and looked into his beautiful eyes. There were less than two inches between us. I felt my breath get caught in my throat. The woods around us suddenly disappeared. It was Ethan and I with the space between us.

"I can't let you go either.." I said looking into his eyes.

We stared at each other for what felt like an eternity but in reality was only a few seconds before he turned his head away.

"I'm glad we're on the same page.. but I'm just warning you Valerie. I'm not safe.." He said looking down in a low tone.

"I feel safe around you.." I said feeling weird on the inside. Maybe me and Ethan do like each other..

We looked each other in the eyes again and just smiled. Maybe this was meant to be. I didn't care that he wasn't human. I didn't care what people would think. It felt right.. But something about Grayson still sat in the back of my mind.

Then it looked like Ethan was going to say something, but stopped.

"Just say it." I chuckled looking at his face.

We locked eyes again and he spoke in that perfect voice.

"I feel alive again, when I'm around you.."

WOW I THINK THIS CHAPTER IS MY FAVORITE!!! ETHAN IS SUCH A SWEETHEART OMGGG. EVERYTHING THEY SAID MY HEART HAPPY LMAO. SO GLAD I CAME UP WITH THAT HAHA 😂❤️
