Before The Storm

---With Michigan and Oregon---

They were just entering the hangar when the pelican landed. Michigan looked at it, confused. Either they were getting a new recruit, or Nevada, Iowa and Alaska were back. He hoped for the latter one.

His hopes were renewed when he saw Iowa hopped out of the pelican, spin around, then collapse on the floor, yelling, "Finally! Solid ground!!" He and Oregon laughed, but stayed up on the high walkway that they were on.

Alaska walked out, and pulled Iowa up off the ground. He shook his head, and said something that neither Oregon or Michigan could hear. Ash exited soon after. Several minutes passed before Nevada left the pelican.

They talked for a bit, but then the Director, the Councilor, and the engineer walked in, and headed toward the group of four. They stopped about three feet away. it looked like the Director was asking them questions, and Nevada looked like she was answering most of them.

They walked away, and Iowa, Alaska, and Nevada followed them.

---Back To Nevada---

Iowa, Alaska, and myself followed the Director, the Councilor, and the engineer to a semi-dark room, where a leader board was displayed. The only difference on it was that Montana and Oregon were switched. Oregon was four, and Montana was five.

"I am hoping the missions went as planned without any serious injury," The Director said looking at us. "No, sir. The most that we were hurt were just a few bruises and scratches. Nothing major," Iowa said.

"That is good. And the Ai's?" He asked. They all logged on. Zeta sat on my shoulder, and Eta sat on Iowa's helmet, his feet dangling off the edge, near her visor. I smiled at that. "That is good. Has having so many caused any damage to their sanity levels, Agent Alaska?" The Director asked Al.

"There has been no change , sir. At least, I didn't notice anything that was off about them," Alaska said. The Director nodded in approval. "Good. We also have another thing to ask, about the information you previously sent to us. Did you happen to find anything else relating to this 'Vanguard'?" He asked.

I looked at him, confused. "Vanguard? Sir, we do not know about it. The reason I sent the information was to show you something about a Project Freelancer inside informant..." I said. "Yes, we also saw that bit of information, but that's not what caught our attention. What did catch our attention, though, is mention of something called 'Vanguard'.

The information that we read didn't tell us much, except that it was some kind of organization within the Resistance. A sort of professionals, much like us. It kept mentioning Vanguard in the encrypted files, but it never said what it was, exactly," The Director finished, motioning us forward, as a holographic image of some kind of base popped up.

The three of us walked toward it, looking at it. "While you were gone, we sent a small team, composed of Hawaii, Kansas, and Utah to get an over head view of the facility that'll be will be sending you to next, after a week of recovering from the past six and a half weeks," The Director said, allowing us to study the map-like thing.

There was four distinct entrances. Two in the north, one in the south, and one in the west. They were rather large buildings, but hopefully, not as confusing at the facility where Kappa was held... "Sir, can we transfer this map to our helmets so we can look it over later?" Iowa asked.

The Director nodded. "That is fine, Iowa," He said, continuing to look at the map. "And, while you're at it, I need you to transfer one Ai to Alaska's helmet. Which ever one suits his personality. If it's the right choice, he will keep that Ai," He added.
