Before The Storm
---With Michigan and Oregon---
"Hey, Mich," Oregon said as he passed him after exiting the training room. "Hey, Oregon," Michigan replied.
"Just wondering, but what do you think those three are doing on their mission? They've been gone almost two weeks... I'm worried about them," Oregon asked. Michigan just shrugged. "I wonder the same thing, you know, about where they are. But, I'm pretty sure we'd be notified if one of them got hurt or died, so try not to worry do much," Michigan reasoned.
"Yeah, I guess so. They must be exhausted. I hope they packed enough food and water, cause they've gone a long time. Most of my missions only last four days at most," Oregon said as they continued to the grenade training (they just got through with the laps).
"They probably did. The day they left, some marines were moving large containers to the hangar, so that was probably it. What I'm worried about is if they have enough medical equipment, just in case. We don't want one coming back with a missing finger, do we?" Michigan asked humorously.
Oregon chuckled. "That would be bad, but it would be amusing to see Nevada or Iowa try to write normally with that hand," Michigan nodded. Montana walked up to them.
"Look, Michigan. I'm sorry about a couple of days ago. I was just to angry to think right. I was caught up trying to take their spot that I was taking out my frustration on you. I'm sorry," She turned and left, leaving Michigan confused.
"What was that about?'' Michigan asked. Oregon shrugged. "Lately, she's been having extreme mood swings. She's been hiding from everyone, and refusing to answer my questions. She just wants Nevada and Iowa out of the picture. She says 'it was so much more fair when they weren't here,'" He said.
"That's... awful. I mean seriously. This place used to be dead, metaphorically, before they came here. Everyone took things really seriously, but when they came, it lightened the place up. For awhile, Montana was actually smiling with us... But now we hardly see her face anymore..." Michigan trailed off.
"Yeah. I couldn't imagine it here without either of them ever coming here in the first place. They were the nicest when I arrived a few years ago," Oregon said. Michigan nodded. "All I know is that it was much better here when they came in, considering I was here for a year or so before them,"
The two entered the grenade room, and talked while they trained. After that, and the sparing, they were excused to lunch.
----With Nevada, Iowa, and Alaska----
"I'll open the hatch in three minutes! Get ready to jump!" Ash yelled from the front of the pelican. "Okay!" We yelled back.
I turned to Alaska. "You still good with jumping out of a pelican that's high above the ground?" I asked. "When you put it that way, no. But I'll jump," He said.
Iowa joined the conversation. "Won't your armor make you hit the ground faster?" She asked. Alaska shrugged. "Maybe I'll have better protection if it does," He said. I smiled. The hatch started opening.
Iowa gave the sniper rifle to Alaska, who passed it to me. "I cannot use that thing. Only Neva has real experience with that thing," He said. I just looked at my pistol and sighed. I walked over to my seat and fastened it to the carrier.
"What weapons do you have, Alaska?" I asked him. "DMR and concussion rifle," He responded. "What is a concussion rifle?" But it was to late for him to answer.
It was time to jump.
We jumped all at the same time. Iowa and I landed normally, but Alaska had to land differently because of his heavy armor. I scanned the area. No one saw or heard us. Good.
