Before The Storm
Zeta looked at me, startled that I asked that question. But he answered anyways.
"Project Vanguard is an organization much like project Freelancer. All their equipment was based off the plans that the Director and engineer came up with. The Ais were created by an old member of Project Freelancer. i will not disclose any names, but he did indeed take us, but he did not steal. He is the one who made the plans," Zeta said.
I looked at my Ai. "You're diverging from the topic, Zeta," I said. From the corner of my eye, I saw the Director walking toward us. "I am sorry, Nevada. All I can say is that they are trained professionals, like you. Names are unimportant at this moment," Zeta logged off as the Director neared our group.
He gave us a glance, and said, "I will need to know all of the information later," He turned back the way he came. We all looked at him as he left.
'Zeta, log on," I said. He came up. "Please don't hide secrets from me. If we're going to be a team, I need to know what's going on, okay?" I asked him. He nodded. "I will try," I nodded. "Come on guys. Wait, how long was that lesson?" I asked, looking at Iowa and Alaska.
"About thirty minutes or so... I think," Alaska said. I nodded. "I guess I owe Montana a match then," I said with a smile. I put my helmet on. "I hope you know it's just going to make her even more mad if you win, right?" Iowa asked.
"Yep. But it'll teach her a lesson. She needs to be reminded that I'm the one she should take her anger out on, and not anyone else," I said, making my way for the training area, with Iowa and Alaska following a few steps behind.
When we got there, Montana was waiting beside the door. "At least I know you don't go back on promises, Nevada. FILSS, is the floor clear?" Montna asked. "Yes, Agent Montana. You may proceed," FILSS said, opening the door for us.
"Match one, Fugil Rod combat, will commence in thirty seconds," FILSS announced.
I stretched, and popped my neck. Looks like I don't get much if a break from fighting anymore. Just remembering, I turned the motion tracker off. Don't need to have that much of an advantage. Plus, I have the Ais, which are a huge advantage...
Great.
"Match starting in five... four... three... two... one. Begin,"
I curled my hands around the eletric rod that I pulled off the wall. Let's win this, Nevada. Zeta, Omicron, and Chi all said in my mind. Their voices sounded... weird. Three different tones and voices all saying the samething at the same time... Weird...
Montana ran at me. She swung at me. I blocked rather easily. It was a downward swing, and I just blocked, and countered when she staggered from the impact.
The rod connected with her right side, sending her flying. She hit the ground pretty hard, but stood up anyways.
She charged again, this time prepared for a counter like that. She striked several times in rapid succession. I blocked all of them carefully, not wanting to get hit. I saw an opening, and took it.
I swung.
She blocked, kind of. My rod ended up behind hers, creating an x like shape. I immediately thought of a way to score the point.
Using all my strength, I flipped Montana over my shoulders, using her rod, and slammed her against the ground. FILSS awarded me the point. I held out a hand to help Montana up.
She actually took it. "Thanks," She said. I nodded, and we left for our sides.
I placed the rod back into it where it's supposed to go, a shelf like thing that's in the wall, and got ready for the next match. "Hand to hand combat will commence in five...four... three... two... one. Begin,"
