Before the storm

---With Iowa---

As soon as they boarded our pelican, and where the Director couldn't see them, Iowa grabbed Hawaii's armor, slammed him against the inside of the pelican, and put a gun to his throat. "If you act like I'm supposed to be your partner, I'll pull this trigger. Nevada's my partner. And, because of you, she's not coming," Iowa hissed. Hawaii looked toward Alaska and Michigan for help. They didn't even move to him.

"Not my fault she's hot headed. She brought this on herself," He choked out, but regretted it instantly. "You wanna know something? If it wasn't for your mouth, she would be here. And you called her hot-headed? You should see me when someone bad mouths my friends," She said, letting him fall to the floor. She took her seat.

Hawaii looked at her, but said nothing. He knew he got what was coming to him. If Iowa had been there when he was talking about C-O, he... probably wouldn't have been going on the mission. he'd be dead, or seriously injured. Why did he say that? He knew it would piss them off. Why didn't he check the room for Nevada? He quietly sighed, and took his seat. Iowa refused to even look at him.

"Why did the Director tell you to replace Nevada?" Alaska inquired. Hawaii sighed. "He would have let her come.... but they had a bit of an arguement. I don't know what it was about, he just called me to his office, and told I'd be leaving with you," He said. Alaska just eyed the tan armored man.

Iowa stood up, and was pacing around in a circle. She and Nevada were partners. Not her an Hawaii. She didn't like it at all, being partnered with him. If only Nevada was here... She thought to herself. Suddenly, a beep sounded in her helmet, making her jump. No one else noticed it.

"Iowa, if this is going through, I'm coming," Nevada's staticky voice said. Iowa turned her outward radio off (the one that broadcasts her voice to the others) so she could have a semi-private conversation. "What? I thought the Director was keeping you from coming," Iowa said. An audible sigh was heard from Nevada.

"Exactly why I'm having to steal a damn pelican. Hell, this is going to get me kicked out of the Freelancers," She said. "Then don't come! I mean, I want you here, but I don't want to risk you getting put back into that hellhole of a prison!" Iowa hissed. "I need to see this through to the end, Iowa. You know how I feel about this," Nevada responded.

Iowa sighed inwardly. "When will you be arriving at the destination?" Iowa asked. "I'll probably an hour after you guys. Maybe sooner. But I will get there, one way or another," Nevada responded.

A few seconds of quietness spread through the chat, before Nevada said, "I noticed that your flamethrower wasn't in storage. Did you take it?" Iowa smiled maliciously. "Yes!" Iowa bobbed her head up and down, earning her a curious stare from Alaska. "Remind me not to stand in front of you then," Nevada said with a small laugh.

Nevada sighed on the other end. "I have to go now, Iowa. I'll see you then," She said, and the radio clicked off. Iowa smiled happily. She especially felt sorry for Hawaii. Hell knows is she was going to get payback or not. If she did... how many days would he be in the infirmary? Iowa chuckled, and took her seat once again. Hawaii locked at her, worried about his safety.

About an hour later, they were dropped at the coordinates to retrieve C-O and Montana. They weren't immediately attacked. It was a simple, steel base, much like the one before this. Except this one had more buildings, and you could easily see recent shipping containers tossed in the corners of platforms. But it wasn't silent.

The four of them could hear voices in the back ground, could hear other's foot steps. And, once again, the dark night sky was engulfed with clouds, signaling that there would be a chance of rain. Iowa sighed when a drop of water splashed on her visor. "This is just great," She said, watching the droplet trail down it, and eventally drip down to the floor. She searched the skys for any sign of Nevada's pelican. She knew it was too early for her to arrive, she was just getting impatient.
