Before The Storm
"Nevada! You're cutting it close!" Zeta, Chi, and Eta all said. "I know that! It's not exactly easy to stop a pelican that's hurtling from the sky!" I replied, the anxiety clearly lacing through my words. I finally got it to stop falling. "A..foot from.. the ground..." Michigan said. I set Sentry-01 gently on the ground. I held my hands together tightly, stress running through my body.
"That... was amazing," Iowa simply said. My gut was tight with worry. That was too close for comfort. If it hit, I had a feeling we'd all be dead. I slowly turned to our traitor. He was still pinned on the ground, three different guns pointed at his head. "You would have died too, if we hit the ground," I said, anger tinting my voice. Iowa let him up, but kept her gun pointed at his head.
"I realize, Raven," He hissed my name. I stepped toward him, grabbed the front of his armor, and slammed him against the wall. "I don't go by that name any more," I snapped. Iowa pushed me away, gentlly, but with a meaning of protecting him from me. He scoffed at me.
"I was sent to kill you, Raven. All of you are a danger to the organization, and you must be eliminated before we can show our faces everywhere," He snapped at all of us. I wanted to murder him, but I held myself back. Maybe we could break him, and he'd give us some answers we've been looking for.
"Let me guess, your the one that attacked our other pelican?" Iowa asked calmly. "No, but I did indeed send the stike team your coordinates," He sneered, looking straight at me. Alaska held me back. "You killed two of our friends. I really really just want you to die," I hissed.
"One was just a pilot. She didn't do anything, besides ferry you around, and follow you like a lost puppy. She was meaningless. Worthless," The traitor said. I broke free of Alaska's hold. I kneed him in the groin, slammed him against the wall, and threw him across the pelican. He hit the hatch in the back. Iowa shook her head.
"Don't kill him," She ordered. I stayed back. "But I want to get some payback. Nevada just beat him, and now I think each of us get to at least hit him," She said, popping her knuckles. I smiled. She walked over to where the traitor was just getting up. He looked up at her. Despite not beaing able to see his face, I could tell he knew what was going to happen.
She pushed him down, and kicked his crotch. He cringed. After Iowa, Alaska kicked him in the same spot. Michigan wasn't one for violence like this, so he stayed back, Omicron hovering to his right. "If we could kill you right now, we would. We'd tear you apart and watch you suffer for what you did. You and Vanguard killed two friends, and we are going to get payback ten-fold," Alaska said.
"Now, tell us everything you know about Vanguard," I said. I wanted him dead. I stepped to him, and grabbed him, pulling him to his feat. He grabbed a magnum from one of the over hangs above the seats, pointed it in my director. I spun, avoiding the bullet. While doing so, I pulled my knife from it's sheath, and brought my arm out.
I felt it slice through the traitor's throat. I barely cringed. He hit the floor with a thump. "Chi, open the hatch," I said. "Opening now," She responded. "That escalated quickly," Iowa said. I nodded. "But I'm disappointed that he tried to kill us. We could have gotten information off of him," I said. We bent down to pick up his body. We threw him outside.
The scenery was just a plains area, a few trees here and there. No civilizationfor miles. I nodded. "Let's keep moving. Now that we've dealt with problem number one," I said, kicking the back of his head. "Nevada!" Iowa slapped the back of my head, well helmet. "Sorry, sorry. I have anger issues to traitors," I said with the faintest of laughs.
Iowa shook her head, and sighed. I smiled. "Alaska, you're the pilot. Let's move," I said. Alaska nodded. We walked to the front. He took the front seat, and I sat behind him. We took off, once again, to our destination.
....
Hours later, we arrived at our detination. We had to park Sentry-01 on top of the building. "Chi, just to be safe, please transfer to one of us. I don't really care who, just make sure they're compatible with you," I said, getting ready to get off the pelican. A slight wave of dizziness washed over me, and I knew her choice. "You should have known I would pick you," She said.
I sighed and nodded my head. "Yeah, I should have. Zeta, activate my motion tracker, please," I said. The circles appeared in my vision, signalling that it was activated. I nodded. "Thanks," I said. "No problem," He responded. I walked over to the dogtags, and unhooked them. I placed them around my neck, and safely under my armor, where they wouldn't be flying around.
I grabbed my sniper rifle, and magnum from over the seat. Iowa stretched, her back popping as she did so. "Feel better?" I asked her. She nodded at me. "Yep," I stepped up on the seat, to see if we were missing anything. I saw a DMR. I grabbed it. "Anyone missing a DMR?" I asked to everyone.
Michigan held up his hand. "I am," He said. I tossed it to him. "Everyone ready?" I asked. "Yep," They all responded, even the A.I.s.
"Then let's move out," I said. I got my sniper ready, and moved out of Sentry-01.
The moonlight cast an errie glow on the buildings. Wind whistled past us, creating a creepy sound that set my nerves on edge. I shook it off. I walked over to the edge, and crouched down, and brought my sniper up.
I scanned the area below, looking for larger groups of guards, and possible locations for the plans. "Zeta, Eta, Kappa, Chi, Omicron, I need all of you to scan for that file. I want to get out of here as fast as possible. I don't like the feel of this place," I said. "On it," They all said.
"See anything useful down there, Neva?" Iowa asked, walking up behind me. I sighed. "No. There's tons of buildings, and the patrols are evenly dispersed. I can't find a possible location," I said. She shook her head. "This is going to suck. I'm not looking forward to looking through everything. At least the A.I. might be able to pinpoint a location," She said. I nodded.
