The Dungeon Lord

Chapter 4: The Cavern of The Snake Lord

As I stepped into the cave and took a torch from the wall. I noticed the other stayed quite a bit away, but still close enough to help with there weapons drawn and arrows knocked.

I continued walking until all the sudden there were several monsters around me. They were like snakes but rather large each one about oh 7 feet or so. They kept slithering closer hissing. Then I remembered about the wand. I swiped it toward hoping it would work but it didn't. I stumbled back in shock. Did I do something wrong when I encrypted it. I wondered to myself.

With the snakes getting closer I knew I had to think quickly so I instead decided to speak the words knowing it would use more of my power "Flame!" I shouted. And two of the snakes were engulfed in a fiery blaze. I instantly felt the recoil and it hit hard. I was breathing heavy already. Come on I need to use this wand not words. Flame Flame Flame! I shouted in my had as I pointed the wand forward fire erupted from the tip charing the other 5 snakes. As I sat back to catch my breath after feeling a much smaller recoil I noticed the bodies started to disappear and little pouches were all that was left. I went up to them to check it out and got two small pouches of gold and a few snake skins, but then it hit my I didn't even have a bag.

"Here you go use my bag until we can get you one after this." Elizabeth said to me. Tossing a empty cloth bag. I quickly put the items into it and gave her a little nod. Before starting on again. I quickly made do of 13 more snakes before I found a stairwell. Assuming this leads to further in the dungeon I walked down the stairs.

I learned quickly thinks will only get harder quicker. This time in addition to the 7 foot snakes. There were massive at least 20 foot snakes on the second floor. What's worse is this was one big room the stairs on the other side carefully guarded by two of the bigger snakes. I sat there counting the snakes and planning it all out. 34 7s and about 9 bigs not counting the two guarding. I would..... Ok that's the plan then. I said dashed for the very center.

As I drew in the snakes towards me I shout Flames several times in my head spinning in my shoes tips in a circle scorching 3 of the bigger snakes and engulfing at least half the smaller ones. I then ran forward more shouting Sparks in my head as several small bolts of lighting left the tip of the wand. I was about to say it again before I realized I made a mistake. Two snakes lashed into my left calf. I couldn't use magic because it would harm me as well, but I couldn't leave then there seeing as it would cause me a great deal of pain as well. That's when a arrow struck one. After a few seconds a second struck the other and I looked over to see Alice holding her bow. I gave her her a faint nod before moving on. I ran around the crowd of snakes and shouted Spark twice and Flame once more finishing the last of the snakes except those guarding the exit. I hurried up and used Mend before launching three flames towards them. They then perished. I went around and collected all the loot this time in addition to what I got last time I had found a potion it was blue so I figured it was to replenish my magic and I would just save it.

As I collected the loot I heard the others talking. Well more so whispering. All I could hear was Alice saying "They were not that big before were they?" and Fredrick replying "No, no they were not." with a cold face.

As I made my way down the stairs I noticed it was dark so I said "Flare" lighting up the room. That's when I saw him, the one presumably being the Snake Lord. The second I saw him I got chills down my spine. I could feel the power coming off of him. This was it. This was my moment. I studied him for a moment before stepping towards him. "Splash!" I yelled as my power was drained drenching him in water. I quickly added Spark Spark Spark as to add to the effect because the fact he was wet. It seemed to harm him, but not enough as I soon found out when 12 huge snakes appeared and he slinked back. I started battling the snakes launching spell after spell and shortly after killing the last one I collapsed. I contemplated using the potion. Then I knew I was fucked. A giant snake at least 70 feet started coming out a large cavern. Even the others seemed startled. They ran towards me.

"Shit, I knew something was wrong! Use the lotion right now Lucifer!" Fredrick shouted. I quickly took it out and although the taste was horrible I chugged it. "Alice you were right about the monsters. Come on guys stand strong and charge!" As soon as Fredrick finished he charged toward the beast. Elizabeth stood back waiting to heal the injured. Alice started unleashing a hail storm for arrows. I ran shortly after Fredrick towards the snake looking for the Lord. And there he was atop the snake.

"Fredrick can you distract the snake some while I go for the Lord!" I shouted.

"Go for it!"

And with that I was off climbing the snake as I reached the top the Lord drew out a blade that resonated with fire. I quickly shouted "Splash!" then Spark again putting out his blade and harming him much more before he managed to cut me in the side. I winced in pain holding back tears and I kicked him back and shouted Flames Flames Spark and finished with a "Squirt!" before running to him and kicked him again tearing my wound more. He cut my thigh as I went for another kick throwing me off as I missed the impact. I quickly went for a punch knocking him back and almost off the snake. I used Mend before throwing me and him both off the snake. I felt my shin snap as we both hit the ground and I screamed in agony. Alice let off three arrows into him, two in the head and one in the neck. As she did the giant snake changed back into a small little snake before being hacked to death by Fredrick.

Alice ran over to me and as she started treating my broken leg the other dashed over too. I stayed they shouting Mend hoping it would work until finally Fredrick alerted me it was pointless.

"Mend can only heal basic wounds and injuries not broken bones or damaged organs. Nothing can heal death however. Once you get stronger spells you can heal a whole body that's a broken and bloody mess and barely holding on to life like it's nothing. But till then scrapes and cuts it is for you." he said.

"There you should at least be able to walk now it will hurt, but fight through the pain and don't push yourself too far or you will break it again." Alice said.

As I stood up I winced in pain. Damn right it will hurt. It does feel a lot better though and at least I can walk I guess. Then I looked over at the remains of the Snake Lord as he vanishes and I notice three things. First off his dagger. Second a rather large pouch of gold. Third a book. I walked over and strapped the dagger to my belt. As I picked up the book I realized it was a spell book. It was for Firebolt. I quickly replaced Flame for it in my wand. We all walked towards the teleporter. As we came out the entrance I put the torch back and we made our way back to the Inn.

When we got back I poured all the items out and we counted up the gold. 274. 274! I was so happy. Then Fredrick took half of it. And split the remaining half into four piles. "Half goes to the guild. The other half is split between the guild members." he simply stated. Then he added "Since this was your first dungeon and you did it solo for the most part keep the dagger and the skins feel free to sell them and pocket the money to yourself." I ran and sold the skins. 38 total. 1 gold apiece. 72 gold 25 silver total. Still a good number to me. After that I went to the Inn. Went to my bed, collapsed, and was asleep in seconds.
