Chapter 13: Traveling Away

I shook awake. Alice jumped out of bed beside of me obviously frightened. "What is wrong.?" She asked still shaken up.

"It was just a nightmare dearest. I will be fine. The sun is shining dimly so we might as well get ready to go." I replied. We both got up and started getting dressed. I dawned my loose steel armour as she put her leather gear on. I put on my belt with both my sword sheathes on it as well as many pouches and dagger slots then out on my several sashes. She put her four extra quivers on her belt then her main quiver on her back along with her bow after putting on her hooded cape. I put on my cape and from there put my enchanted sword into the left sheathe and a steel one in the right. My whole outfit was tinted a piercing black. I looked at myself in a  wash bin. Holy shit. My hair is so long. I believe it's time to cut it. My eyes were they just red? It is pry just my mind playing tricks it is still early yet. "I am going to cut my hair before we go." I walked outside with a dagger and just started chopping at it. It was like a rainstorm of purple flowing around me. When I had finally finished they were messily cut to my shoulders. I walked back towards the house and went in. I went to a chest I kept and opened it. The gleam of the steel and iron blinded me for a few seconds. I filled I all my slots in my clothes. In my boots and bracers a steel was places as well as my belt being filled. Iron was placed into the sashes. I took two of my biggest bags and got Alice. Her hair was in a bun and she was finishing prepping. Finally she got her bag and we set off to address the whole guild. I sent a runner to alert all of a meeting.

When finally everyone had gathered I started my announcement. "As all of you know me and Alice got married two days ago. We will be leaving to go on a journey for awhile. We shall be leaving Fredrick in charge until we get back. That is all." with that everyone started to disperse. I turned to Fredrick while saying "Well good luck my brother."

"And the same to you."

With that me and Alice took 3000 gold 1500 for me and 1000 for her the rest being for supplies and food. We took off towards the town on the long walk towards the east entrance.

"I'm glad to finally officially be yours forever" Alice said clinging to my body. "Wait now that we are married does that mean we can finally, you know?"

"There will be time for that in the future dearest, for now let's focus on getting food."

"Ok. I just was wondering is all."

"Well, yes it does mean that to answer you."

"O-oh, o-ok." Alice said her face growing a vibrant to deep red. Finally we arrived at the gate after about an hours walk. Once we got in we walked strait to the market district. We purchased 4 loafs of bread, 2 blocks of cheese, and about 20 strands of dried salted meat. We took off towards the west gate. The road out the west gate would lead strait to one of the biggest trading cities in the whole land. As we got to the gate we were met by a stranger dressed in several dark cloaks. When he lifted his face I saw who it was instantly he approached us with ease in his stride. As his stride took him closer he smiled and when he reached me he whispered to me.

"Don't forget young traveller, take the dragons life and you become my next apostle. You any even bring your bride. To let you know as well, I am well aware you are not of this world." Then once finished he walked with the same stride to an alley and disappeared.

"Well that was weird. What did he say?" Alice asked.

"He said good luck on our journey and to be careful." I said lying feeling guilty, but knowing it's for the best. Kill the Dragon eh. I think me and her posses the souls by now. On our way home we will have to go. Actually stopping my the house first after we are finished is smarter. Ok it is a plan then. We kept marching onward towards the town. This be the not be a waste of time. It is not even clear of me if this exists or how good it actually is. I've only heard of it from easedropping on small talk of traders.

As we walked I felt a weird shiver down my spine then I realized why. I three both Alice and myself down just in time as several arrows wizzed past where our heads had just been. 18 arrows that means at least 18 ambushers, but more than likely more. Then out came 6 men all bearing arms charging at us. I drew my steel sword and braced myself against the ground still wary of the other 12 missing archers. Alice ran back and notched an arrow letting it loose into one man's head. I raise my sword to chop another's arm then turn and quickly block last second. I stabbed my sword into one of the attackers and bashed another's head in with both my spiked magic gauntlets.  Right as two more came at me one got an arrow to the neck and I rolled to the side to dodge the other. As I came out of the roll 7 arrows hit off my armour. I picked a sword off the ground and swirled slashing the final attackers stomach open as his guts fell out of his body and threw that sword into the bushes where the arrows came from and picked up two more swords running into the bushes. As I jumped in I felt a dagger but me so I swung a sword in the direction I knew it hit when I hurt a grunt of pain. I got to the other side when I realized they weren't here. I jumped back to find them surrounding Alice. I was gonna jump out when I realized how bad that would be for her. I instead crept out and ran around the group. I threw 10 daggers at them. It struck all of them not enough to kill, but enough for Alice to get away. As she ran so did I only I ran towards them and she away. All that try and hurt her will pay in blood. I stabbed one in the back and ducked as two other cut into each other. Alice shot an arrow through one and the last I took down. I bound his wrists then started talking to him.

"Where are the rest of you?" I asked.

"They all ran with their tails between their legs. Ahaha. So what are you an officer too. Path-" he was cut short because of me punching him.

"Who are you working for?"

"A rather wealthy man I can tell you that much. We charged him double our usually fee and he said he had enough many more parties to attack you. You must be quite a bastard to get an enemy that strong."

"He apparently isn't strong he just has a lot of money to spend. A real man would attack me face to face." I slit the man's throat and collected my daggers and sword cleaning all of them off with the enemies clothes as Alice got what arrows were still reusable. Then we set off again for this new town. What a way to start our new marriage.
