Lily's POV
"Closing time!" My mom yelled out to all the employees cleaning. I dropped the bottle of glass cleaner in my hand out of excitement and I hurriedly skipped to the back to grab my belongings. I couldn't stop bouncing up and down as I collected my things and walked back out to see the few people who were just working gone.
Only my mom and father stood at the doorway on their phones, most-likely waiting for me. "C'mon, woman and man! We don't have all day!" I yelled playfully, hugging them from behind which startled the both of them.
They still didn't know about Cry and me, which I felt horrible about. All they know is that we're really close friends, nothing more. And I intend on keeping it that way, just until our relationship becomes serious.
"Don't have to tell us twice." My mom muttered as she set the alarm and began walking to the car shortly after, my father copying her actions. I followed them, not wasting any time in settling into the car. Apparently, I wasn't the only one wanting to go home since my parents were already comfortable in the car.
"C'mon, woman!" My dad joked, mimicking my words. I stuck my tongue out as they laughed and began the drive home.
Gotta love my parents and our moments together.
*Time-skip Yo*
I fumbled and spit out random words as I squeezed myself into a pair of skinny jeans. Afterwards, I threw on a hoodie and shoved a red beanie onto my hair. Grabbing my bag, I mentally checked off the things I needed while walking down the stairs. I'd barely gotten home five minutes ago and here I was, already on my way out.
My parents were simply relaxing, not even minding that I was going out since I've been doing it so often, but I still needed to ask for permission. They sipped on tea and watched some random action film as I opened the door. "Guys, may I go to Cry's house?" I asked, my body already out of the archway.
"Wait, Lily! May I talk to you for a minute?" I heard my mom call out from inside. I grumbled and walked back inside, setting my bag next to the door. "Yes, mom?"
She patted the spot next to her with a smile just as my dad gave me his own soft smile before heading off into the kitchen.
I obediently followed my mother's directions and waited for her to begin whatever she was going to say. I love my mother, but if you haven't noticed I'm in somewhat of a hurry. Cry had promised me a surprise today and I was non-stop bouncy and bubbly at work. In other words, I really wanted to see what it was.
"Lily," she began, her face giving off the fact that she was contemplating how she was going to form her words safely. "I'm glad that you're moving your bestfriend status from Alex to Cry, and I don't mind, but have you even visited her? Tried to talk to her?" She asked, causing me to sigh. "I mean, I think she deserves to know that you befriended Cry and to meet him. After all, he is her favorite YouTuber." My mother suggested before I could reply to her previous question.
I exhaled again and looked to the floor. It's not like this was my first time thinking of this, but it was my first time trying to explain it. Explain how Alex no longer wants anything to do with me and how I was terrified of Alex taking Cry away from me. I wouldn't have given it a second thought to introduce Alex to Cry...when we were bestfriends.
Now that she hates me, I'm absolutely not open of her meeting Cry. What best way to completely ruin me by stealing my boyfriend?
It sounds dramatic, but you never know.
"I guess you have a point, but..." I trailed off. "But?" My mother pressed. I could tell from a mile that she really was making an effort to make me speak my mind and talk. Was it because of the fact that I was never home?
