Lily's POV
I yawned sleepily, rubbing my eyes with my forefinger in a bid to dispel the tiredness within them because of work. A smooth chuckle then rang out as I blinked fast to rid of the darkness. "Sleepy?" The voice asked in a teasing manner. I stopped instantly and sat up with my hands clasped together in my lap. "Nope." I replied just as another yawn crawled up my throat.
Clamping my mouth shut with my poorly nail-painted hands, I turned away from a laughing Cry and faced the window. Many houses, playing children, and happy couples passed by me eyes and I beamed at the sight of everyone. I then looked up, the happiness increasing when I found that it was still a beautiful, late afternoon.
The sun was barely beginning to make its descent, so the sky was a perfect flurry of orange, pink, and red. Plus, the clouds looked like perfect oblong shapes of white fluff which contrasted perfectly with the colorful sky.
I sat admiring it deeply until my hazel eyes caught a familiar building up ahead and I instantly squealed in excitement as I practically bounced in my seat.
Cry then came to a halt and parked the car, laughing as I literally jumped out and ran to the candy store. Pushing through the double doors, I was met with the semi-silence that I loved.
"Alma!" I cheered as I spotted the older woman behind the cash register. She smiled and slowly made her way around the counter to meet my open arms. "Lily, dear, how are you?" She asked in her sweet voice, hugging me.
"I'm great!" I replied happily. "What about you? I haven't seen you in a while..." I trailed off, dissapointed in myself for not visiting her earlier.
"Don't worry about it." She said with a wave of her hand. "I'm fine, always have and always will be." She spoke with a light-hearted chuckle. "Wait," she said as she glanced over my shoulder. "Where's Cry?"
"Right here." A voice panted behind me. I whipped around and was met with the sight of my boyfriend, bent over and out of breath from trying to keep up with me.
"Cry, my boy!" Alma cheered. "How are you?" She then walked over to him and helped him up before embracing him into a hug, as if he was her own son.
"Hey, Alma." He greeted with a grin. "I'm alright, what about you?"
"Just fine, dear. Same stuff as always." She chuckled and I couldn't help to beam at the sight of the shorter woman squeezing Cry, who was conspicuously taller than her.
"Oh, wait, I almost forgot!" Alma said suddenly, pulling away from Cry. "My son is here right now, helping in the back, and I would love if you two were to meet him!" Cry and I laughed and nodded. "Sure!"
"Yeah," I agreed. "We'd love to."
Once Alma scurried off to find her son, I turned to Cry with a wide grin. "She seems a lot happier since her son came to visit her." I noted as I walked over to Cry, wrapping arms around his slim torso. "Yeah." I felt him nod his head and hug me back. "I'm glad."
I hummed in agreement and snuggled further into his body, inhaling his fresh scent. I would've loved to stay there for eternity, but I had to pull away once I heard Alma's scuffling feet. "Sweetie, meet my other two children." I heard her soft voice chuckle to someone. Alma then appeared into view with a male that was roughly the same height as Cry. My eyes glanced over to his face and they widened at the familiar features.
He was the same guy who asked me for my phone number at work...
"Meet my son, Max!" Alma said proudly, even putting her hands on her hips and standing taller. "Well, I need to attend to the customers. Have fun, guys." She said, kissing all of our cheeks before walking off.
