(Warning: Choppy chapter ahead >.<)
Lily's POV
I silently groaned in annoyance as my character- once again- missed the final ledge and fell to his ninety-eighth death. But, despite the gigantic number of deaths and disappointments, I refused to give up and let the rage get to me.
So, once my character respawned a few feet away from the designated ledge, I scrunched my eyebrows together and slightly stuck my tongue out in concentration, forcing my thumbs to press the correct buttons faster; but it was just another failed attempt at trying to reach the finish line.
I huffed loudly and set my controller down slowly before hiding my red-with-held-in-anger cheeks with my hands, sighing as I tried to calm the rage coursing through my veins. I knew Cry was looking at me as he tried to contain the small laughs that slipped from his lips to not anger me even more, but I couldn't really blame him for laughing.
After all, his seemingly more athletic character than mine already stood on the ledge with the finish line. He waited for me and even tried to guide me through the steps of how he got on top of the ledge, but he pretty much gave up on me on the thirtieth attempt and merely watched with a wide smile as I struggled.
I rolled my eyes at the memory and removed my hands from my face, sighing as I said," I'm done." I looked over at Cry and saw both of his hands were clamped down onto his mouth, his shoulders shaking as his laughter was fighting the restraints of his hands.
"Go ahead." I spoke with a pout and almost instantly he burst out laughing. I crossed my arms and watched him laugh for a good five minutes, a deep pout still adorning my face from the left-over frustration from earlier.
Sensing my irritation, Cry soon started calming down, the occasional chuckle escaping his lips after a minute or so. And soon, he was silent and finished with his laughter fest, and he gave me a heart-melting smile. "Hey, Giggles?"
"Yeah?" I said with a raised brow. "Do you wanna hear a joke?" He asked with a small chuckle. I couldn't help but to smile at the playfulness in his voice and I nodded. "Sure, why not?"
"Alright." He smiled widely. "Why didn't the lifeguard save the hippie?"
I glanced at the computer screen and stared at the bright red sign as I thought the joke over, the white letters strewn across it becoming brighter and drilling the words 'You're dead' and 'Try again?' into my mind even more. But, I soon snapped out of my daze and shrugged as no answer or remote guess came to mind before looking back over at Cry.
"I don't know, why?" I asked with a small smile as I finally realized that the answer will be incredibly corny.
"Because, he was too far out, man." He spoke with a slow, calm voice, one like a hippie's voice. And, even though the joke itself wasn't hilarious, I still burst out into a fit of giggles; the anger and frustration I felt earlier melting away with every single giggle.
I heard Cry chuckle and say," Well, that's enough rage and corny jokes for this video. Goodbye!"
I then saw him stop the recording through my watery eyes, and I blinked away the tears, my frequent giggles soon becoming small coughs.
"Are you okay, Lily?" I heard Cry say with a hint of concern as he patted my back softly. I nodded and gave on final cough before beaming at him. "Never been better!" I cheered and even fist-pumped the air.
Cry smiled at my actions and chuckled, giving a small nod of his own. "Aright then."
I smirked and stood up, walking over to his kitchen and grabbing two chip bags from his marble countertop before walking back over and handing Cry one.
