Chapter 15

A Marauder's Return

It was fun to hear people's reactions to the end of the second task. People truly did not know how much power Aang had, but he showcased it at the end of the task. This gave Aang quite a bit of attention, but due to past experiences, and Katara eyeing him like a hawk, he did not let the attention go to his head. Fan was getting bombarded with questions now, all ranging from if Aang could do that at will, to if he could give that power to anyone. Typically, it was boys that were asking Fan if they could have some Avatar State power. The girls, however, just asked if he was a good kisser, and clearly they were very jealous of Fan.

Aang was not the only one getting attention because of the task. Ron began to tell people his heroic adventures of getting captured by merpeople, putting up a good fight, but being beating into submission. Hermione, meanwhile, was not happy with her attention. She was getting teased about being the thing Viktor Krum would miss most. Aang did not dare bring up his prize to Katara again, or to Fan, for that matter.

One day, however, he approached Li in the Great Hall, who was sitting right next to Fan. "Hey" said Aang. "Li, could I talk to you for a second?" Li and Aang walked away from Fan and another earthbending girl, and went to the corner of the room. "What is it, Aang?" Aang looked at Li, and said "So, we haven't really talked about this too much, but I think we should. The Second Task-the thing you'd miss most-what was that about?"

Li sighed, and said "Look, Fan and Su over there are my real only friends in Hufflepuff. People sort of think I only became a Hogwarts Champion because my future Step-Dad is the Earth King. Fan and Su have stuck by me, though. They've been really good friends to me, and so I guess I'd miss both of them most, and in the lake, it happened to be Fan." Aang felt a great sense of sadness for Li.

"Please, Aang, don't get the wrong idea. I feel absolutely nothing towards Fan. She's just my best friend." "No" said Aang. "I don't think that. I understand. But, now you've got an entire team from Gryffindor and Slytherin as your friend, Li, and I bet you have a good shot at winning the tournament." "I don't really want to win" said Li. "I already have everything I could want. I live in the Earth King's palace. That's enough for me, Aang. I'd rather it be you than me." "Well" said Aang. "We'll find out in June" and he and Li shook hands.

Aang returned to the Gryffindor table just as the post owl's came flying in. He sat down next to Ron, as the same brown owl flew down to Harry. Harry took the letter off, and read:

"Be at stile at end of road out of Hogsmeade (past Devish and Banges) at two o'clock on Saturday afternoon. Bring as much food as you can."

"He can't be in Hogsmeade, right" asked Aang. "It sounds like it" answered Katara. "I can't believe this" said Harry. "If he's caught..." "He's made it so far" said Ron. "And the place isn't swarmed by dementors anymore." "Well, I've got a bag of fire flakes with his name on it" sad Sokka. "I hope he likes hot food."

That afternoon, they stood outside of double Potions, their last class of the day. Suddenly, Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle approached with Pansy Parkinson and other Slytherin girls. Zuko joined the gaang, as Pansy giggled "There they are! You might find something interesting in here!" and she threw a copy of Witch Weekly at Hermione and Katara, who caught it in her hand.

Hermione and Katara looked at it, and Katara said sarcastically "Oh haha! Really witty!" "What is it?" Aang askd. He looked at the title: Potter and The Avatar's Heartache by Rita Skeeter. "Just some rubbish" said Hermione. "Stating I'm toying with Harry and Viktor Krum, and that Katara is toying with you and Zuko." "What?" Zuko said, enraged, as he looked at it. "It's all lies" said Hermione. "If she's trying to hurt me, she'll have to do better than that!"
