Chapter 7

The Spirit of Truth

The thick rain had disappeared by the next morning, as Harry awoke. He placed his school robes on, as he awoke Ron and Sokka. He turned to Aang's bed, but saw that he was gone. "Did anyone see where Aang went?" "He probably just went down early" said Ron, pulling on his robes. "Yeah" said Sokka, rubbing his eyes. "He probably wants to-to" he yawned. "Catch Fan before we all split off."

The three headed down to the common room, where they saw Aang huddled in the corner next to Hermione, with a notebook out. "What? Do you guys have another Time-Turner that allowed you to get today's homework done early?" Sokka asked. "No" said Hermione. "Aang had a dream last night. He had to see me. Luckily, I was down here before him. We've been up for about an hour."

"Why?" Harry asked. "What'd you dream about?" "It was like my dream from the Summer continued" said Aang. "The firebender was chasing me again. Then, I woke up, but when I went back to sleep, Kila came to me and told me to come and see her." "So, did you?" Ron asked. "I tried" said Aang. "But, I couldn't get into the Spirit World. It was like I was being...blocked..." "We've been going over ways of how he's gotten there before" said Hermione. "And we've been coming up with ideas...but it won't work." "I have to see Kila if we want the answers we need" said Aang.

"Well, maybe you're just tired" said Ron. "Maybe you need more energy. Hermione said you should get rest." "But, Kila needs to see me now" said Aang. "She sounded...urgent. As if it had to be done immediately." "Then, why didn't she say anything?" Harry asked. "Probably because he really wasn't in the Spirit World" said Hermione. "It was only a dream."

They all looked down, hopeless. "Look" said Sokka. "We can't really worry about this now. We should go down for breakfast-and I'm not just saying that because I want food." Aang looked unsure, but Hermione said "Maybe we can try again later." Aang sighed, before nodding.

"Guys! What are you all sitting around for?" Toph and Katara had emerged, as Toph said "Come on you lazybones'." "Is everything all right?" Katara asked. They all looked up, as Ron said "It's nothing. Just waiting for you guys." "Even when we're not on some earth" said Toph. "I can clearly tell you're lying."

She led the way down into the Great Hall where they took seats next to Fred and George, as well as Lee Jordan. As they sat, course schedules were passed along. "Today's not bad..." said Ron, looking at Monday's schedule. "Yeah" said Sokka. "We're outside all-oh no..." "What is it?" Toph asked. "Damn...we're with the Slytherin's for Care of Magical Creatures..."

"Awe-and double Divination later" said Sokka. "We should've given it up like Hermione" said Katara. "Exactly" said Hermione, buttering toast. "Then, you'd be enjoying Arithmancy like me." "You're eating again, I see" said Ron. "Yes" said Hermione. "Another thing Aang and I were talking about this morning. A better way of standing up for elf rights." "And you were hungry" said Ron.

They soon all bustled out of the Great Hall, where Aang gave a swift kiss goodbye to Fan (Katara was very interested in the knot in her shoe at that moment) before they all headed outside and across the grounds towards the greenhouses with the fourth year Hufflepuff's. After squeezing plants called Bubotubers, they all headed off towards Hagrid's hut, where he sat with his dog, Fang. Several wooden crates sat in front of him, which put curiosity in all of the students minds.

"Mornin'!" Hagrid exclaimed, as a bright smile spread across his face. "Be'er wait fer the Slytherins! They won't want to miss this-Blast-Ended Skrewts!" "Come again?" Sokka asked. Hagrid gestured to the craes, and Lavender Brown squealed. These creatures looked like shel-less lobsters, with legs in odd places and no head. They were each about six inches long, crawling over one another. Sometimes, sparks would fly from them. "Don' be afraid of no sparks!" Hagrid said. "I'm sure yeh firebenders'll be able to handle 'em! They on'y jus' hatched, so yeh'll be able to raise 'em yerselves!" "And why would we want to do that?"
