After doing everything I had to I left for school. I went with my friends as always. The girls and I talked about yesterday. Terry felt left out so we promised to do something together. This is my senior year so in some ways I’m going to miss high school. I won’t miss the drama. That’s for sure. I went to class. We’re almost finished with the book. Jake popped into my mind. I can’t stop. I don’t want to have feelings for him. If I do all I can expect is misery and heartbreak. I can’t play games with him. I have to still be angry at him but being angry at him tires me. I sat with them. For once Jake was quiet. I noticed he avoided eye contact with me. What’s his problem? Can he make up his mind? After class he stayed behind with me.

“Leslie, can we talk?” Jake said.

“Yes”, I said.

“About yesterday… I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that”, Jake said not meeting my eyes.

“Apology accepted. Don’t do that again though”, I said.

“Don’t worry. You’ll be the one kissing me in the end”, Jake boasted, looking at me again.

“If that’s what you believe than who am I to argue? I doubt it highly so don’t expect it”, I said.

We were back to this. What can I say? He has worse mood swings than I do.

“I do believe. No one can resist me after all”, Jake said flexing his muscles.

They are impressive and I would be lying if I didn’t say I wanted to touch his muscles but I would never say it to this cocky, arrogant fool.

“Sure”, I said sarcastically.

“See. You do agree”, Jake smirked.

“I’m being sarcastic, buffoon”, I said.

“Aw. Don’t deny I’m a sexy buffoon, beautiful”, Jake said.

“Why don’t you praise yourself more and I will go to class?” I said.

As I was walking I heard him.

“See you later beautiful”, Jake said.

I went to class knowing he was staring after me. During lunch time Jake sat with my friends and me.

“You won’t believe her. Ms. Lyon was making us do extra work because we asked a question”, Cassy complained.

“Teachers these days need to get a life”, Jane said.

“Yeah, I think they have meetings to plan how to make our lives miserable”, Janice said.

It was funny how they complained. They could rant for hours how teachers need to get a life. Sometimes I agree. Terry and I always were amused how long they could complain. Apparently Jake thinks it’s amusing too. I wonder why he doesn’t sit with the “populars” anymore. I wonder if got bored with them. For the rest of the lunch the girls ranted while Terry, Jake, and I watched. I rarely complained. If I did it had to be a miracle. My friends separated from me and Jake walked me to my locker.
