Chapter 5

I woke up. I touched my lips. It was as if I could still feel his thumb on my lips. I think I am going crazy. He probably didn’t feel the same. Ugh. I wonder what will happen today. He better keep his word. Or else. I did all the things I had to do and left for school. As usual I met up with my friends. I couldn’t stop thinking about Jake. Will he act differently? Will he still keep his act? I heard a voice.

“Les. Are you okay?” Jane asked.

“Huh”, I sad.

“Are you okay?” Jane repeated.

“Yeah, why?” I said.

“We have been trying to call you for the last 5 minutes and you haven’t answered”, Janice explained.

“I’m good. I’ve only been thinking about school things”, I lied.

“Okay”, Jane said suspicious of me.

They let it go and returned to talking. I joined them this time. I didn’t want anyone to know about Jake. When the bell rang we left. I sat with my group. I glanced at Jake and he winked at me. I guess there’s my answer. What happened to the charming Jake?

“How’s it going beautiful?” Jake said.

Here we go. I rolled my eyes.

“Why do you call me beautiful?” I asked.

“Because you are beautiful, in every sense of the word”, Jake said.

He stared into my eyes intensely. Jacey cleared he throat. I had forgotten about her. She looked uncomfortable. We started to read. I don’t know why Jake confuses me. One moment he’s a jerk and another he seems to be what I’m looking for. I actually enjoy this book. It’s a romance book. It is Jake’s turn so I listened closely and stared at him.

“She might not love me but I love her. If I lost her I don’t think I could bear the thought of living. Everything about her amazes me. She is like a fallen angel. Her eyes have captured the stars. Her hair flows like a waterfall and her lips hold temptation”, Jake read but he looked at me.

His eyes held seriousness. Does he like to confuse me? At this moment I needed to feel his lips against mine. I needed to be with him. His eyes never left mine. Jacey cleared her throat again. It broke the spell I was under. I looked at her and she began to read. I think Jake makes me forget everything. After class Jacey took me to talk to me. Jake is waiting for me at the door. My eyes returned to Jacey.

“Is something going on between you and Jake?” Jacey asked.

“No. Why?” I said.

“You guys seem to have a lot of tension and chemistry. I don’t know how to explain it but when you guys look at each other it’s as if you have forgotten everything else”, Jacey said.
