After rock climbing, the campers made their way to dinner. Everyone was preparing their ingredients to make smores for the campfire.
"Why are we having smores today for the campfire?" Sophie asked Sawyer as she sat down.
"I don't know, I heard they're not doing a performance tonight," Sawyer replied.
"If this is the way they're making it up to us, at least they should get a better caterer," Vivian remarked.
"Yeah, by the way, where's Diego?" Sophie asked.
"He went somewhere with Clyde," Vivian responded.
"I'm going to go too, not hungry," Sawyer said as he left.
"What's up with him? He's always hungry," Vivian wondered.
"I don't know, but we should get going soon," Sophie replied.
After dinner, all the campers gathered around the campfire.
"Alright, alright! Today we are not doing a performance, but you guys can toast marshmallows for smores!" Brown announced.
Everyone groaned.
"What? You guys don't like smores?" Jason asked.
"I think they do, I think they just want something entertaining," Shane replied.
"Don't worry, Mitchie has something planned," Nate said.
"So instead of a performance, we're going to tell you a ghost story," Mitchie announced.
"Boo! It's probably not scary," Sophie exclaimed.
"Shush, I wanna hear this," Annabelle said.
"Legend has it, that long ago, there once lived a mean counselor called Harry. His leg was broken and he had a cane. Everyone heard him coming. Every night when all the campers go to sleep, he would not be in his cabin. Harry would be in the woods. No one knew what he was doing in there but every morning, they would wake up and discover that A CAMPER WAS MISSING! Campers got scared and some even reported him. The police finally took Harry away but Harry vowed to get revenge ever since. He then became known as the Hobbler," Mitchie said.
"So fake," Vivian remarked.
"That's not all, every 4 years, at 10:00, Harry would strike. And it's 2016, another 4 years span," Jason added.
"That means Harry will haunt us?" Newton asked, trembling.
"Yep, and every 4 years, he takes a person, disembodied it, and then bury it deep in the woods," Nate replied.
"How will we know who he will take?" Natalie asked.
"First, the person goes missing, then a mask is under the person's covers, and lastly, the person's favorite stuff is found in the forest," Shane responded.
The little campers gasped.
"Oh come on, it's literally SO FAKE!" Clyde exclaimed.
"You say that now, you won't be saying that when the Hobbler takes you away," Mitchie said.
The older campers rolled their eyes.
"I'm scared, Annabelle," Sally admitted as she scooted closer to Annabelle.
"Let's go ditch this place and call it a night," Annabelle said, getting up.
"Ok, then, campers. Sleep tight, don't let the Hobbler bite," Brown exclaimed.
"He bites, too?!" Sally asked, freaking out.
Sophie rolled her eyes. As soon as the girls were safely in their beds, around 10:00 p.m., they heard a sound.
Click! Clack! Click! Clack!
"What was that?!" Sally asked, looking around.
"What was what?" Sophie asked, turning on the lights.
"I heard a click clack sound," Sally explained.
"I heard it too," Natalie added.
"Relax, it's probably just the wind," Sophie assured them.
"Or it could be the Hobbler!" Annabelle exclaimed.
Sally and Natalie both screamed
Ding!
"What was that?" Sally asked.
"My alarm clock, it says it's 10:00 now," Sophie explained.
Sally and Natalie both screamed again.
"Oh come on, it's probably just the counselors that is trying to scare us," Annabelle assured them.
"Ok, everything is fine. There is no Hobbler just my imagination," Sally calmed herself.
So the girls all went back to sleep. The next morning was sunny, birds were chirping, and no blood was to be found.
"Ok, everyone is still here. Me, Annabelle, Sophie, and Natalie. Wait, where's Natalie?!" Sally exclaimed as she looked around.
"Down here," Natalie replied from under her covers.
"Ok phew," Sally said as she wiped sweat off of her forehead.
Annabelle enters the cabin while closing Caitlyn's door.
"Did you check if Caitlyn's in there?" Sophie asked.
"Yeah sure, that's what I was doing, certainly not eating candy," Annabelle lied.
"If you ate candy, then obviously Caitlyn isn't in there," Natalie said, getting out from under her covers.
"I wonder where she is," Sally added.
"Who cares? Let's just go to breakfast," Sophie motioned as she got out of bed.
The girls all got dressed and headed out to the mess hall. Sophie went and joined Sawyer and Diego while the girls got food.
"Eww! You like olives?!" Annabelle remarked as she watched Natalie pile olives on her plate.
"Duh," Natalie responded.
Sally went and joined them.
"Hey, Sally, where did you come from?" Annabelle asked.
"Just doing a number count on everyone at camp," Sally replied as she grabbed a plate.
"Anyone missing?" Natalie asked.
"Just Caitlyn," Sally responded.
"I wonder if the Hobbler took her," Annabelle wondered.
"That's impossible, Caitlyn was already missing before the counselors told us the story," Sally replied.
"Maybe he is a early striker," Natalie added.
"Early striker, me likey," Annabelle remarked.
"Annabelle, he's dead," Sally reminded.
"Doesn't matter," Annabelle said as the three of them walked to their table.
