Korra's P.O.V.

"Asami... w-what are you doing?" I gasped and covered my lips with both hands. The reporters standing in the yard didn't lose much time and took as many photos of us as possible. The second morning magazine covers and every site on the internet shared photos and videos of our passionate kiss. Half of the Republic City hates me now because I am considered to be the reason the beloved couple broke up. Another half is happy that Mako is finally available. I didn't know what could have been worse than being hated by whole city, but still managed to find the answer. Lin Beifong... She was definitely going to order someone to murder me because I was not worth her personal effort.

I haven't seen anyone since I rented a room in a small hotel. I haven't been answering phone calls either. I don't want to open the door because of the reporters waiting outside. I hate her. Asami is the reason my life was turned upside down.

"I'm loving the suit." Asami gasped when I walked into 'Kwong's Cuisine.' I was a bit late because I got lost as expected and had to take taxi instead.

"Thanks, you're looking snazzy as always." I replied and felt my cheeks getting warmer. Asami was wearing the same suit as yesterday yet something was different about her. I don't know maybe it was because of the environment we were in... But everything felt more peaceful and attractive. The situation might have been quiet but my stomach surely was not. It started to growl as soon as I saw bunch of different exotic dishes on the table. Or maybe that wasn't the actual reason? I was really tense about coming here. I definitely was not born for luxurious stuff and didn't want to embarrass myself in front of Asami. "Sorry for being late." I added and sat down on the chair in front of her.

"I didn't know what you would like to eat so I ordered everything from the menu." Asami said, pointing at the dishes. A great advantage of being late: I don't have to figure out how to pronounce the food names correctly.

"What's her name?" Asami asked scrolling down her phone to find photos of her cat. Who would have thought that despite differences there would have been so many things we had in common. At first, it was hard to keep up with the conversation, but after two glasses of semi-sweet red wine, it started to get easier... And now we are sitting in the fanciest restaurant around, talking about each others' pets.

"Naga." I wasn't paying much attention to her lately and felt like a traitor because of this. But after everything that has happened these days, I barely had time for myself. "You think Naga and Raven could get along?"

"Well, there is only one way to find out." She answered and showed me her phone. I am more of a dog person but I have to admit that I immediately fell in love with that tiny kitten. Sorry, Naga, I've betrayed you once again. "So how about you come over my place tomorrow? Naga is also invited." She giggled and swiped right to show me more pictures of her cat. I nodded and grinned widely.

"How was Egg Custard Tart?"

"I have no idea which one is that." I replied, taking few more sips of the wine.

"Me neither." She giggled, her eyes exploring my face. I awkwardly smiled and bit my lip. "The name in the menu seemed kind of familiar." Asami added and lazily blinked few times. It was clear that she was struggling to keep her eyes open. I was sober compared to Asami who was failing to sit straight. Her entire face, especially nose, and eartips were bright red. "It was Aang's, you know, the Avatar who founded this city, favorite dish so they serve it here to honor his mem..."

"So that's why you couldn't go on a date with me?!" A familiar voice interrupted. "To hang out with this street rat instead?" I turned around and saw Mako pointing his hand at me. He was barely standing and I could tell by his looks that he was drunker than both me and Asami together.

"You shouldn't have come here." Asami replied and stood up. I didn't know whether I had to interfere or stay silent. Their relationship wasn't my business but their argument involved me too.

"Why not?! Don't I have the right to see my wife whenever I like?" He replied slurring the words. The whole restaurant was staring at the three of us with their cameras on.

Asami's P.O.V.

"Don't I have the right to hang out with my friend?" I asked almost yelling. Why does he interfere with my life whenever he feels like it? I've managed to make a friend once in my life and he had to ruin it.

"No! You don't have the right to choose some girl over your husband!" He yelled.

"We aren't married yet." I yelled back.

"You are right. We aren't and we are never going to be! It's over, Asami." After all this shit I've been through because of him, he wants to end things just like that? I was about to lose myself but stood up and walked towards the entrance to get some air, before I had done something I would have regretted.

"Asami, wait!" Korra grabbed my arm in the midway. "I'm so sorry. It's all my fault."

"No, Korra. Don't blame yourself..." I whispered, looking down at her hand holding my arm. "I... I need to leave." Korra nodded and opened the doors for me so we exited the restaurant together. I've felt like a villain because all the lights were on me and Korra. The yard was crowded with reporters holding cameras at us, like police officers point their guns at dangerous criminals who were caught for crime. All of them were shouting different questions which I couldn't sort out because of the fuss.

"What's going on?" Korra covered her eyes from the flashlight and stared at me in confusion. Mako opened the doors and started walking towards us. All this mess was because of him... I froze my eyes on Korra. She was nervously exploring my face, waiting for an answer.
