Korra's P.O.V.

"Hey, dad." I answered the phone and tried to sound positive. In case if he didn't hear the news, I didn't want him to suspect anything. But who am I kidding! He has never called for the past month so it was either a miracle, or he was aware of the truth.

"Sweetheart, how are you?" I couldn't lie to him, I couldn't say that everything was alright. Tonraq understood that I wasn't going to answer and continued. "I want you to know that me and Senna are with you and you don't have to feel ashamed because of what happened. You are always welcome back home." I looked out the window. The crowd was only growing larger. I've noticed a black Satomobile parked in front of the hotel. The woman with grey hair was about to enter the building.

"Thanks, dad. I really appreciate that but I have to go now." I hung up the phone and threw it away. I couldn't believe it, Lin Beifong was about to kill me and she wasn't even trying to hide it. I quietly opened the door and scanned the corridor. Fortunately nobody considered staying in this cheap hotel besides me. I heard somebody come up the stairs. I was running in the corridor, pointlessly trying to open any other door to hide in. My eyes landed on the window at the end of the corridor. There was no other way out. I was too far from the ground and the chances of me making a safe landing was low but I had to risk. I opened the window and started climbing down the building. I noticed Lin Beifong's cold eyes staring at me.

"Korra, don't!" She shouted but it was too late. I jumped. Few seconds later I've crashed onto the car that was parked inside the hotel yard but I didn't stop there. Rush of adrenaline helped me concentrate all my remaining strength on running away and soon after I was sitting next in the Avatar Park, center of Republic City. I looked down at my own reflection on the water. Where did I go wrong? A month ago I was travelling around the world but now I'm running away from the police. I can't go back to Yue Bay, I can't go home. Do I have a place I can stay? Where people don't know my name?

The Pro-Bending Arena!

That place was demolished by President Aang years ago, the place of corruption and distribution of drugs but illegal fights are still being held. Police is well aware of the reality but nobody can really fight it. On the contrary, I see many familiar public figures betting and benefiting from the battles.

"Ladies and gentleman, I want to introduce two new players in this game!" The crowd started to cheer. "Please make some noise for Koh and the Equalist!" I covered my face with a blue headband and put on a black hoodie which I bought with my remaining money. If they see my face, I'm a goner. After collecting all the bets, we were finally turned against each other. "Let the battle begin!" The man roared in the microphone and we were left locked in a cage. We were like animals, left there to tear each other apart just to please the people who paid to see the show.

I usually observe opponent's fighting technique before attacking so I let her strike first. I've dodged most of the attacks and decided to face some of them to test opponent's average power. Her attack style was somewhat familiar yet I've encountered so many fighters before, that I couldn't tell for sure who she was resembling. I got ready to punch her in stomach after performing a distracting maneuver but she easily avoided it by taking a few steps back. She knew my secret move I've been working on that I've never showed to anyone except for... No, she couldn't be her.

"Asami?" I yelled and jumped aside.

"Korra?" Asami replied taking off her black headband a bit so I could see her face. It's her! But why is she here? Asami doesn't need to fight for money. Is this a new hobby of hers? "Korra, can we please talk about what happened yesterday?"

"No, we can't." I answered immediately and went in for another attack. Crowd started to roar when Asami blocked the hit and crashed onto the cage. She fell on the ground but managed to stand up, visibly shaking. "I surrender." She shouted and put her hands up in the air. Crowed started to boo and swear, throwing at Asami everything they could find around. She didn't even try to dodge any of the trash thrown at her and quietly left the ring.

"And the winner is Koh!" Xin Fu Jr. entered the arena and put my left hand in the air. "The Avatar has got some competition." Of course, she does. I snickered and started to wave my hands around but deep down I knew that Asami let me win.
