The following morning, you woke up in a very bad mood. Your back was sore and you had a very bad headache. Sleeping on the ground wasn't the brightest idea last night.

But it couldn't be helped. You wanted to sleep one last night in his arms before heading back home on the ship.

You rubbed you forehead, trying to make the pain a little more bearable. No headache will stop you from having a good day today.

You knew that once this ship sails again, you and Ace won't be able to see each other for a very long time. Not until Teach is dead.

You clenched on his arm, trying to bring him closer to you. Everybody else was still asleep.

To your surprise, you saw that Ace was awake and he staring at the sunrise. He looked like he didn't slept at all.

"Ace?" You called his name in a low voice, trying to not wake up the others.

"Oh, you woke up. Good morning." He said while giving you his usual smile.

"Did you get some sleep last night?" You asked in a cheerful voice.

"No... I couldn't sleep." He answered.

You furrowed your brows as Ace turned back his attention to the sunrise.

The night was rough one for Ace. He couldn't even close his eyes. The thought of being on his own again almost scared him in a way. But he knew that this was the right choice. You just weren't ready for this kind of fights, plus this was his fight, not yours.

He was the one who had to bring Teach down. No matter what.

You let out a small whimper as you felt another wave of pain in your back.

Ace stood up and picked you up, placing you on his lap.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"My back hurts like hell." You said.

Ace started to rub your back. The pain was starting to fade a little bit. He then turned you around and started to massage your back.

After a few minutes, your back pain started to fade completely. You thanked him with a kiss. He quickly responded to your kiss and he turned you a around, but this time you faced him. Once the kiss ended, he placed his forehead on your.

"I'm gonna miss this." He chuckled.

"Well I can always tell Shanks that you changed your mind." You said with a hopeful tone.

"Hmmm.." He began to rub his chin, making it seem as if he is thinking, making you giggle. "Nope." He smiled.
What a tease! How dare he?

You pouted and hit his chest. He started to laugh at your reaction and held you close to him.

"Whatever you do, you cannot convince me to let you tag along anymore, (Name). This fight is between me and Teach. Plus, I don't want you to get hurt." He said as he rubbed your back.

"Yeah... I understand that, but I don't want you to get hurt either, or something even worse."

"Nothing will happen to me, I promise." He smiled at you.

Later that day, everybody was getting ready to set sail once again. At that moment, you and Ace were saying your goodbyes.

"Be careful, okay?" You said in a quiet voice.

Ace furrowed his brows and nod. He grabbed your chin and he leaned in for a kiss.

"You too. I'll come back as soon as possible, okay?" Ace smiled.

You caressed his cheek and nod. The feeling was getting stronger and stronger. Something inside was telling you to stop Ace and to go back home with him.

But you knew that he's a stubborn person and so, stopping him from what his mind was on was as close as impossible.

You loved this man with all your heart. That's the only reason you're here with him now. You knew he needed to get through Thatch's death somehow and you wanted to help.

Sure, you've gone through a lot of adventures with him, so you know that he's strong, even so, you can't help but worry about him.

"Okay." You returned the smile.

You started to walk away from him and walked towards the ship. You turned around and saw Ace staring  at you, while having a smile on his face.

"Wait, (Name)!" He called out just before you could set your foot on the ladder. He ran to you and he held something in front of you. You grabbed the object from his hand and looked at it. It was a piece of paper.

"A vivre card?" You asked surprised.

"It's my vivre card. I remembered last night that I had yours but you didn't had mine so I made one just for you." Ace explained.

The piece of paper was pointing at the direction where Ace was, so there was no doubt it was his. You kissed his cheek one last time before climbing on the ship.

Once the ship sailed, you started to wave at Ace and so did he. He then gotten smaller and smaller until, there was no island insight.

Goodbye!
