Chapter 50
They heard a bump and somebody moving around upstairs.
"The walls have ears." Teddy muttered. For the first time he moved away from the tapestry. "Goddammit, we forgot about Fred and George."
"Watch your language." Molly said quietly.
"Vic, they heard everything." Teddy said, ignoring Molly. "They know." He buried his head in his hands "I'm going to get them. We can't have Harry, Ron, and Hermione knowing."
"Right, them knowing could put our whole future in jepordy. Them going about their work in the next couple year is pivotal." Vic rambled on. Teddy stomped out of the room and up the stairs. There was more shuffling as the twins tried to scramble out of sight. Teddy dragged them back by the hold on their ears. He dropped them on the remaining chairs.
"Ted, would you calm down." Victoire scolded. As far as she was concerned, she thought Teddy was overreacting.
"Vic, you should understand why this is so wrong."
"Teddy, the only wrong thing here is the ENTIRE situation!" Vic cried "We aren't supposed to be in 1995, we would be in 2015 plus a couple years." She stood up to face him "You need to get over this one small fact and move one. If worse come to worst, we can just blackmail every single person in this room."
"Hey!" Sirius said. He was shushed with a glare.
"Teddy, I love you and I mean this in the nicest way possible, you need to get over yourself for the sake of Remus, Sirius, and everyone else who lost their life." Her eyes flicked to Fred for only a split second.
Teddy clenched his jaw and just stared at her. "Fine." He said. He walked back over to the tapestry and ran his hand along the line connecting himself to his grandmother.
"Fred, George, trust me when I say this," Vic turned to her young uncles "you must tell anyone of the things you have heard in this room."
"You're not going to erase our memories?" George asked
"No," Vick shook her head "Studies have shown that obliviating someone can damage higher brain function as well as the ability to create new memories."
"Soooooo..." Fred trailed on "What does this mean?"
"Well I wish I could all put you under the unbreakable vow, but I could see how that might end up with more death." Vic thought out loud. "Let's stick with a good old fashion promise, and the fact that your lives are in the palm of our hands." She smiled sweetly.
"Don't you think it's wrong for you to play god with all of us?" Remus spoke up finally. "Really? Because you haven't had success once. Not with any of our friends. For all you know, things got worse for Dorcas. She's been gone for years! And Marlene! Don't forget about Marlene. She was supposed to have just died peacefully. Instead, her mind withered away until she felt the need to end her life."
"Remus that isn't fair." Teddy said. "You never would have met your son! I never would have met my parents!"
"That doesn't mean you have to toy with the fabric of our lives. Why can't you come, say hello, then return to whatever you were doing before."
"Remus!" Sirius scolded "These kids risked their lively hoods just to come back to give you a better life. You can't tell me you want things to keep going on miserably for yourself until it just comes to a bitter end."
"Sirius, have you ever though about how we supposedly die?" Remus said softly. "I don't want things to end up worse. Think about if one of the kids die?" He gestured on hand up and one to the twins. "How will I be able to forgive myself for living if one of them ends up dying instead. There's a balance to life that one can't toy with lightly."
"Well here's some news for you." Victoire stood up and faced Remus. "One of them does die." She was stone faced "the others were never the same, so I'm told. Why do you think I have so many second generation named cousins. I was named after the win of the Battle of Hogwarts. Teddy was named after his grandfather. So was James, and Lily after her grandmother. Albus after a beloved teacher. Fred after an uncle he never got to meet. These kids missed out on so many lovely people that we are doing our best to help. I'm not doing this only for you, Remus, but for those who missed you." She wiped a tear off her cheek "Did you know, that when Sirius kicked the bucket, you had to hold Harry back so he didn't follow along? That boy lost so much, and I am trying so that you aren't a part of that."
The room held I'm silence. Victoire backed off of Remus, and Sirius tried to catch her on her way out. She shrugged him off and made her way to the bedroom that had been asigned to her an Teddy. Teddy looked to the others in the room quickly before mumbling something something incoherent and following her.
Molly sat on the couch clutching Arthur's arm. She was as white as a sheet but not nearly as bad as Georga staring at his twin like he was already dead. Molly quickly shook out of her reverie and stood to Remus.
"I think you have a lot of nerve snapping at... my grandaughter." She said with a broken voice "That girl just wants what's best for her family, and Remus, like it or not, you are apart of that family. Should things get worse, we cross that road when it comes. For now, live your life and let them save that life."
Molly, too, stormed out. Arthur was soon behind her.
"She's right Moony." Sirius said quietly. "You deserve a better life. Let them give you that." Sirius slowly made his way to bed as well.
Finally, Remus shook his head and left to his room. The only left downstairs were the twins.
"It'll be alright, Georgie." Fred's voice was shaky at best. "Vic and Ted'll save us."
