Chapter 57

Once the whole battle was said and done, people were in shambles. Some Death Eaters were captures and had returned to Azkaban, but most escaped to live on causing mayhem, among them, obviously, was the Dark Lord himself.

Harry was very distraught. He could hardly deal with the loss of his godfather. He hardly spoke and reserved death glares for anyone one approaching him. He seemed to avoid Victoire and Teddy the most, however. It seemed that he didn't want to admit to them that they were right.

Victoire was unconsolable after failling to save another friend, until Teddy explained what he had done. After that.... neither of them were sure. They came to the uneasy conclusion that they wouldn't know to either way until the day that Teddy had perhaps sent Sirius.

"What date?" Victoire whispered to him.

"30 months maybe? I don't know. I panicked and I don't remember exactly what I said." anxiety grew on his face.

"No, calm down," Vic said, "We'll figure this out."

A distressed Remus approached the two. "He's- he's- you- you-" his gaze flitted everywhere except for Vic and Ted's eyes. He ran his hands through his hair several times and kept shifting uneasily.

"Remus, we don't know." Teddy said. He put his hand on the older man's shoulder. Remus looked up and showed the tears pooling in his eyes. Several of them spilled over and traced down his cheek.

"Y- you don't know?"

"Remus, where's Harry?" Vic was shaky too but tried not to let her old friend see that.

"He's- he's with- Dumbledore took him." Remus pointed off, halfheartedly, in a random direction. "I don't know where- where they went..."

"Go home, Remus." Teddy said. "We'll come visit you later."

He said nothing more. He returned to shifting his gaze rapidly as he made his way to the row of fireplaces. With a burst of green flames, he disappeared to the muggle street above.

Elsewhere, most of the students had been taken back to Hogwarts. Those with injuries were escorted to the Hospital Wing, as opposed to St. Mungo's, to keep a low profile. Madam Pomfrey insisted the two of them accompanied them. She was appalled and even terrified when she was informed that Remus had left sans medical care.

After the Healer had cleaned up the several minor cuts and bruises of the two, they took the time to talk to the students who had been apart of the fight, save for Hermione --who was in critical condition after Dolahov-- and Harry --who had hidden himself away from the others blinded by grief.

"Hi Neville." Victoire first approached the boy while Teddy went to Luna. "My name's Vic."

"Uh- hi." Neville shifted but winced when he smiled and shifted his yet-to-be-mended broken nose.

"The last time I saw you, you were about an hour old." she smiled fondly at the memory of her causing Alice a panic.

"I was?" He tried to scrunch his face but winced again. Vic waved her wand and quickly fixed his nose.

"Yes. I remember Harry's mum being unsympathetic with your mum's labour pains and then Alice was unsympathetic right back when Lily was in labour not long after." She chuckled a little.

"You knew mum and dad?"

"Mmhm, in all their evil fighting glory." Vic put her hand on his shoulder "You're parents were amazing people. Alice was a quiet girl, but hell hath no fury like an Alice scorned. She's the type of person who won't get angry over anything, but if you do somehow manage to piss her off, you had better run. I didn't know your dad as well, but I do know that he is the type of person who'll walk to the ends of the earth to help the people he cares about. They were amazing jurors and even more amazing people. They would be so proud of the man you become."

Neville flushed a bright red. "Thanks, Vic."

Over by another bed, Teddy was talking to Luna. She wasn't injured, but much like Teddy and Victoire, she had been dragged along by the resident healer as well.

"Were you, by chance bitten by a clamscit recently?" Luna asked him out of the blue.

"A what?" Teddy furrowed his brow.

"A clamscit. It's a beast. If it bites you, it gives you knowledge that you're unable to share with others."

Teddy though a moment, just to amuse the girl. "I don't remember being bitten, but I do have a piece of knowledge for you." He smirked and leaned a little closer. "If that boy over there-" he pointed to Harry, "-ever gives you hell, don't you think for a moment that you shouldn't put him in his place."

If Luna was puzzled by this, her face didn't show it. She sat there and nodded peacefully. "Alright." she added for extra measure.
