"Lily Ann!" I exclaimed immediately after Liam opened the door to find Harry standing there with Lily Ann balanced on his hip while her head rested on his shoulder and Quentin sat patiently beside him, looking up at Lily Ann like he wanted to protect her from the world.
"Dada." Lily Ann replied tiredly as she blinked and reached out to me. I took her from Harry and hugged her to my chest. I was so distracted by my happiness at seeing her that I completely forgot she'd never said Dada before.
"Come on, little bear, let's get you to bed." With Quentin following at my heels, I took Lily Ann to her room; getting her into her pyjamas and putting her to bed while Quentin looked on from the doorway. When I went back out to the sitting room, Liam was talking to Harry quietly.
"Why don't you just talk to him about it? You know Lou; he won't judge." Liam was saying sympathetically to Harry, who looked upset and confused.
"I don't want to mess it up. He's my best friend and I couldn't stand the idea of losing him over something stupid." Harry sighed, bowing his head in defeat. He had his back to me, so he didn't know I was here yet.
"Yeah; I know what you mean." Liam murmured, looking right at me as he spoke. That was when Harry spun around and saw that I was standing behind him.
"Ni......I'm so sorry for worrying you. I really didn't mean to, I was just trying to avoid Louis so I was waiting for him to leave before I came." Harry apologized, gazing at me with big, round eyes that seemed to question why I wasn't slapping him.
"It's fine Harry. Just......don't do it again. Ever." I warned with a sigh, giving him a quick, tight hug before sprawling out across the settee; giggling and pushing him away when Quentin came over to lick my face.
"I won't, I promise. Hopefully I won't feel like I need to ever again." Harry sighed, plopping down in the armchair while Liam picked up my head so he could sit down and lay my head in his lap; running his fingers through my hair while I looked at Harry.
"Talk to us, Harry. We can help you with it; we've been there." Liam tried and when I looked up at him, I saw he was smiling at me. Our situation was kind of different but it was the closest thing we were going to get right now.
"You've had the panicked, 'I kissed my best friend and I maybe like him' feeling?" Harry asked skeptically, looking pointedly at the way Liam was running his fingers through my hair while his other hand was laced with one of mine and my other hand was drawing patterns into his knee.
"No, I've had the panicked, 'I fucked my best friend but I don't remember and I maybe love him', followed by 'I definitely love him, help' and 'Now he's pregnant, how the hell is that possible, what do we do.' feelings. Somewhere in there we've probably had something close to what you're feeling." Liam half joked, but really; it was true. We didn't exactly have the easiest beginning to a relationship that ever was.
"Well actually, mine was more a; 'My best friend fucked me, I remember some of it and I maybe love him' feeling" I played along with a laugh but when I looked at Harry, it was clear that our joking wasn't helping. Pretending nothing happened and then sorting out the feelings after it was discovered that there was a baby on the way wasn't an option here, which Harry was fully aware of.
"Yeah well, we didn't fuck and we can't just ignore it until a baby is added to the equation. Plus, ye didn't or barely remembered that." Harry sighed, sinking lower into the armchair and looking at us almost pleadingly.
"OK, OK; we're not helping. Sorry. You can still talk to us. We remembered enough for it to be awkward at first so we can help you with what you're going through." Liam acknowledged, suddenly completely serious.
