Today was 'Daddy's day to babysit' as Eleanor liked to say, so me, Zayn, Louis and Harry were gathered at our house to take care of Cathal and Bethany. Lily Ann was in school and Eleanor was out with George, buying him new clothes because he had quickly grown out of his old ones.
Then, Perrie decided she'd let Zayn have a go at single parenting and went with Eleanor to get a few things for Bethany, while Chloe just decided she'd had enough of Harry lying around the house all day, so she'd told him to come help.
Although, him and Louis weren't much of a help, since they were just goofing around; not having children with them who needed looking after. So far, they'd done nothing productive besides force Liam to go get food, which was why he wasn't here. He was supposed to do it yesterday, but we fell asleep and it just didn't happen.
"No, Zee; you're supposed to test it on the inside of your wrist before you feed her." I laughed, grabbing Zayn's arm before he could sit down to feed Bethany, who was three weeks old and had just started drinking expressed milk* every once in a while.
"What? Why?" Zayn asked, sounding almost alarmed, which made me laugh even harder while he looked at Bethany with a confused frown.
"To make sure it's not too hot." I explained, before glancing up at him between my eyelashes and asking; "Have you really never feed her before?"
"She only just started drinking expressed milk the other day! And I don't know about you but I can't breastfeed." Zayn exclaimed defensively, before he went off to the kitchen to test the milk over the sink. Somehow, he still managed to get it on the floor.
"Shut up; you know I can't." I grumbled, looking down at Cathal, who was also feeding before looking back up with a start when I heard a crash.
"Sorry, sorry! That vase wasn't that important, was it?" Louis asked, looking sheepish as he untangled himself from Harry after they'd knocked into the little table beside the settee and broke the vase that had been on it.
Despite the fact they were both over the age of thirty and Louis now had a child, they still acted like five year old's with each other and had been wrestling on the floor, which really just consisted of Louis sitting on Harry's chest and making kiss-y noises at him while Harry tried to get Louis off of him. It almost never worked, because Harry didn't want to hurt Louis so he was very gentle about it; choosing to try and roll over instead of actually pushing Louis off.
"No, it was one that had been here when we moved in. But clean it up, please?" I sighed, trying not to laugh when Louis and Harry both nodded enthusiastically before jumping up and racing each other to the press where the dustpan was.
"So why do you test it on the inside of your wrist, anyway?" Zayn suddenly asked, looking up from Bethany but getting distracted by Louis and Harry, who were now sword fighting with the dustpan and brush. The broken vase would get cleaned up eventually. If we were lucky.
"Because the skin on the inside of your wrist is really sensitive and so is a small baby." I explained, laughing when Harry 'stabbed' Louis in the stomach with the brush, only to hold him in his arms and fake sob as Louis pretended to die.
Then, after dying, Louis jumped at Harry and tried to bite his neck, which effectively knocked Harry over, so they were just a tangle of limbs in the middle of the floor again. How they managed not to cut themselves on any of the broken vase pieces was beyond me.
"Honey, I'm home!" Liam exclaimed as he came in with a few shopping bags, making me laugh quietly and roll my eyes. He was so weird sometimes.
"That's nice, dear." I replied, looking over my shoulder at him, before grinning and adding; "Don't expect me to have your slippers and paper all lined out."
