Chapter 17

Later...

Riker POV

I opened my eyes, but I couldn't see much. The lights were too bright.

"Look who's awake."

I tried to get my eyes to focus, but everything was blurry, and I don't think my glasses are on.

"Here."

My glasses were pushed onto my face, and I saw a nurse.

"W-where am I?"

"At the hospital."

"Why?"

"You tried to kill yourself."

Everything came flooding back. And I started to cry. I failed, and I'm still here...

"Hey, don't cry. Do you want to see your family?"

I looked down, seeing a needle in my arm.

"I don't want this!" I shouted.

"Ok, I can take it out."

The nurse took out the needle. I wanted to start screaming and all that, but I was too tired. I bet they put me on tranquilizers...

"Do you want to see your family?" The nurse asked.

"No..."

"Riker, they'd all like to see you. They're very worried."

"Good..."

The nurse left, and about a minute later, my family came in. I crossed my arms and glared at them.

"Riker, what's wrong?" Mom asked.

"You saved me! Why would you save me!? I just wanted to die!" I screamed.

"Well hello to you too," Rocky mumbled.

"Just shut up! All of you!"

"He's crazy... Seriously crazy in the head," Ross said, quietly.

I started crying harder. I just covered my face with my hands.

Everyone left except mom. And she sat down on the side of my bed.

"Riker, no one wants you to die. We're going to help you get through this."

"I don't want to! I give up! I can't do it any longer!"

"Why?"

"Because the hurt won't go away! It's been weeks since Paige and I broke up! And it still hurts just as bad!"

"Riker, even if you're not her boyfriend, she still cares about you. She was crying when she found out what you did."

"Really?"

"Yeah. I think maybe you should talk to her."

"It's only going to make it worse."

"Why would you think that?"

"Because I've tried talking to her. And I end up crying every time."

Mom sighed, got up, and left. And then Paige came in.

Thanks mom...

The first thing I noticed was that she was crying. A lot...

She knelt down by my bed, and covered her face with her hands.

"Please don't cry..." I said, quietly.

"How could you do this, Riker!?"

"I don't know! I just felt so awful inside..."
