Chapter 10

Middle of the night...

Riker POV

I woke up from a nightmare about Macy. I was practically in a puddle of sweat.

I went to the bathroom and splashed some cold water on my face. But something didn't feel right. I know Macy's still in jail, but just thinking about her made me feel spooked.

I got back into my bed, but I just felt scared.

"Rocky!" I whispered.

He didn't wake up, so I went over and shook his shoulder.

"Rocky!"

"What?"

"Can I sleep with you?"

"Why?"

"Because I had a nightmare..."

"Riker..."

"Please!?"

"Just go back to bed!"

"I can't! I already tried! I'm scared!"

"Fine..."

Rocky scooched over, and I dove down under the blankets.

"Night, Rocky..."

"Night, Riker..."

Morning...

Riker POV

"Riker! Wake up!"

My eyes snapped open.

"You screamed," Rocky said, looking concerned.

"What?"

"You screamed."

"Oh... I had a nightmare..."

"Again?"

"Yeah... About Macy... They're letting her out, you know!"

"Yeah... I know... You'll be fine though, Riker. Trust me. The police wouldn't let her out if they weren't going to protect you."

"Whatever..."

I got out of bed, and went downstairs. Rydel was on the couch with Paige. I went straight to the kitchen as tears formed in my eyes. It just hurts so much!

I angrily started making myself some toast and peanut butter. I remembered having it at Paige's, and it only made me more upset. Freaking toast...

I was sort of careless, so when I went to take out the toast, my hand touched the metal part on the toaster, and I screamed. Rydel came running in.

"Riker, what happened!?"

"I burnt my hand!"

I started to cry. Rydel fixed up my hand, and was going to go back into the living room, but I pulled her into the bathroom.

"What, Riker?"

"Tell Paige to go home!" I cried.

"Why?"

"I can't be around her! It hurts too much, Rydel! She broke my heart!"

"Rik... I think it's time for you to move on. Do you know how many other girls are out there, that could be better than Paige?"

"Yes I do! Zero!"

"Rik... Seriously. Why don't you go out and do something to distract yourself?"
