Chapter 27

Morning...

Riker POV

I woke up, and Paige was clinging to me really tight. I shook her shoulder a little.

"Paige. Paige, wake up."

Her grip tightened on me, and her eyes opened.

"Good morning," I said, quietly.

She closed her eyes again, and kept a tight hold on me.

"Paige..."

"I don't want you to die."

"I won't! I'm fine! My wrist just hurts a little."

I sat up with Paige still clinging to me.

"Paige, you do realize that it was you she almost killed last night, right? She had the gun pointed at you."

"I know..."

She finally released me, and fell down on the pillow.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing... I just want to be done with all of this already."

"Do you want to come get some breakfast?"

"I guess so..."

A few days later...

Riker POV

The police now had Ashley and Carly. But not Macy. We were all still kind of worried about her.

The sun was just going down. And Paige texted me, asking if I wanted to come sleep over. I said yes, and I was about to leave.

"I'm going to Paige's. Bye, dad."

"Bye, Riker."

I went out the door. My phone buzzed, so I pulled it out of my pocket. It was from Paige. She told me to meet her at the park instead...?

Whatever. Maybe she planned a romantic dinner for us!

I quickly walked down the road to the park. It was really dark out now, and it was hard to see. I was starting to regret wearing my pajamas, because if it's a romantic dinner, I don't look very good.

I kept walking until I heard something weird. Like... muffled crying...?

I started running towards the sound, and I found Paige tied to a tree.

"Paige!"

She had tape over her mouth.

Someone grabbed me from behind, and slammed me down on the ground. I looked up. It was Macy. And she had a baseball bat. Next thing I knew, everything went black.

Paige POV

I licked the tape until it fell off my mouth.

"Why are you doing this to him!?" I screamed.

"Because you love him," Macy said, tying Riker to a tree a few feet away from me.

"Please just let us go! What's your problem!?" I screamed.

"My problem is your stupid family!"

"What's wrong with my family?"

"Your freaking parents were lawyers and put my cousin in jail! They deserved to die!"

"No, they didn't, Macy! They were just doing their job! You should be after whoever hired them! Actually, you shouldn't be after anyone at all because it was all Carly's fault!"
