Chapter 34:

ARIZONA POV

When I came home from school, I sat down in contempt. Pami and Pony! Bah! They wouldn't last I was sure of it! He was doing as revenge and I knew it. Fine! Two can play at this game! I can catch men like Scarlett O'Hara and much better! They'll practically be falling all over me! And who says love has anything to do with it! You've read Gone With the Wind, Ponyboy Curtis, well, see it in action! And Pami was a total copycat to copy Emily's look! I smiled slyly as I sat down to do homework.

When I got up the next morning, I dressed in my normal attire and applied red lipstick and false lashes. They'd come in handy. As I got ready to go for school, I thought of a plan that would drive Ponyboy insane. Haha I thought to myself as I walked to school.

PONY POV

Everyone thought I was dating Pami Johnson even though we were just parteners on a project but I asked her out and we had been on a date yesterday night. I was trying to make Arizona jealous of course. Pami was really starting to like me I thought complementing the next morning. When I got to school, I hung out with Pami and never left her side. Pami thought nothing of what was happening and I didn't mind. Arizona would of course come around, I hoped at least. Pami and I were holding hands as we walked to my locker this morning. I saw no sign of Two Bit or Arizona.

BACK TO ARIZONA POV

I got to school that morning and got my books out of my locker before putting my plan into action. I walked over to Hamiltion Kennedy a soc who had liked me for a while and didn't care about dating socs or greasers. " Hey Hamilton , you know me I'm Arizona. I know you like me and I like you, so let's do something..." I said to him thinking of my master plan. " Hey Ari, I know you of course. Oh so you do like me, can I walk you to class, also can I call you my girlfriend?" Said Hamilton cluelessly but sweetly. I nodded and said, " Let's go to Language Arts..." Hamilton laughed at my jokes as we walked to English. We passed Ponyboy and Pami. He looked at me rudely and went back to that stupid girl Pami. Hamilton escorted me to Language Arts before the bell rang and we got there. I had forgotten both Pony and Two were in this clas. I waved bye to Hamilton and he said, " Bye babe!" before heading to his first class. I laughed evilly in my head. I reminded myself of Emily my best friend. I kept evilly laughing in my head and went to my seat and sat down. Pony boy and Two Bit kept glancing over at me. My English teacher said, " would you like to tell us what the name of the book we have been reading is? I think we need a class reminder. I knew it was a book called, Anne Frank but instead to make Pony even more jealous... I laughed and answered with , " Umm Hamilton." I said cutely. Pony boy glanced at me. I glared at him. My English teacher laughed and I said, " I Mean Anne Frank." The class clapped except the two greasers. The bell rang. I left the class in search of Hamilton before second period which we had together. It was Math with . Pony boy stood next to Pami and the two of them walked by me holding hands followed by a glaring Two Bit. Hamilton saw me and I said, " Thanks for walking me to first period,babe. Let's go to math." He laughed at me and we went to class. I think Pony was jealous but I didn't know. By lunch I was doing great, he seemed jealous. I was secretly a little jealous of him and Pami,too,though. He walked up to me after I had finished lunch and said, " What are you doing with him,Ari?" I looked at Ponyboy and replied, " Don't you dare call me that! You're nothing to me. And as for that why do you care? Last time I checked you were too protective. Now Hamilton doesn't want to feel my wrath so he lets me do what I want. It's sheer proof that soca are wimps." He looked at me weirdly and said " You spend too much time with Emily. So why are you with him?" And he asked it again so I replied again with " Why do you care? Don't be rude to my best friend either!" Before walking away. Pony boy didn't call after me and I knew he was jealous. I was doing my job well. Hamilton and I spent the rest of the school day close by.
