What now (Calen)

I found where the griffin was hiding it really wasn't that hard. I figured he had to be hungry and I really wanted to help him. I tryed talking to him but clearly he didn't understand me. At first I thought maybe like many animals he doesn't interact with speaking creatures, but I had an odd feeling that wasn't true. I white lied to mom and dad and told them I was hanging out with Pops and Papa at their cave in the mountains near the pack city well it was sorta true the cave the griffin was in was near their cave. I told pops and Papa I just needed some alone time. They seemed to buy it and didn't bother me. He wouldn't let me any closer. Which was just out of reach. I gave up trying after a while there was no way I wanted to lose my hand to this creature no matter how bad I wanted to help him. Every now and then I could hear the sound of metal clinking together and discovered it was coming from the griffin. Why would he have metal. Oh well guess I will never know I went home to get some sleep that didn't happen I lined up tossing and turning I couldn't stop thinking about the griffin out there in that cave cold even though I left him some blankets and more then likely in pain. I was up very early made me breakfast and made sure I saved him some and went back out to the cave. Clearly I woke him when I came in. I was glad to see he had used the blankets. He seemed to like the bacon, eggs, toast, and milk I brought for him. He still wouldn't let me help him so I went home until lunch and took him out some roast. He seemed deep in thought I took the opportunity to try to treat his broken wing, but when I touched him it was not what I was expecting. I knew right then we where meant to be mates. I didn't know what else to do so I took off I needed to think. What was I going to do it wasn't the fact he was male or that he wasn't wolf it was that he was a griffin and I'm pretty sure doesn't have a human form. Maybe I need to talk to dad or mom I went to see if we could talk like always they were busy with pack business. I just walked around the city trying to figure out what I was going to do.  When I spotted Pops chatting with a couple of pack members. I waited until he was done.

"Hello Pops can we talk" I asked.

"Sure thing, what's on your mind" he answered. I spilled everything meeting the griffin trying to help him up to when I actually touched him.

"A griffin you say well that explains the unusual smell. Papa and I followed the scent to a cave but we seen you go in so we figured that's where you had been going to get your space. Anyways did I ever tell you I wasn't sure if papa could shift at first" He said.

"No" I answered as we walked.

"Well as you know papa was abused before coming here and it took awhile to gain his trust and for him to feel comfortable enough to shift. Maybe your friend is the same you say he injured has at least a broken wing. You don't know what his life was like before appearing here give him time. Just keep up being there taking him food" he said

"Ok but what if he can't shift then what. How will the pack react I suppose to take alpha in a two weeks" I asked.

"We'll worry about that bridge when we come to it, and you know you have my, papa's and your parents support. Even if it doesn't seem like it. Which while I'm on the subject have you told them" he said.

"No I was going to. I was freaked out and came right home. Went to talk to them but like always they were busy. Where is papa anyways" I said.

"With Kela and Nate and Keala. I'm heading to meet them even though I haven't been Alpha for over 20 years the pack still looks to me for advice" he smiled.

"Love you Pops thanks for the advice" I smiled.

"Anytime, just remember to tell your mom and dad  and keep helping your friend" he said we were outside of Gramps and Nana's house.

"Calen, are you joining us for dinner" Nana chimed from the porch.

"Umm, No Nana I have somewhere I need to be. Pops can we keep what we talked about between us" I said.

"Absolutely, I won't even tell papa I'll let you tell others when your ready" he smiled and went in with Nana after she gave me a quick hug.

I went to the pack house gathered up food a nice Salmon and rice tonight. Once I had enough for both me and the griffin. Uhg I really need to call him something else. As I was about to leave there was something going on. The guards were on the move and heading right toward him I went quickly. Sure enough there he was and the guards were surrounding him. He wasn't backing down either. I went and got between the head guard Geo and my mate.

"Stop he won't hurt anyone" I said to Geo.

"How do you know" He asked.

"Because we're friends" I got cut off by dad.

"Not to mention he is your future Alpha and if the Alpha says someone is good then you should take his word for it" he said.

"Yes Sir, sorry"Geo huffed.

"Don't be sorry you were doing your job. He could of been dangerous" I said.

"You have some explaining young man" mom said that's when everyone scrabbled. Mom looked mad.

"Sorry mom, I was going to tell you. Anyways he showed up about the same time that snow did. He was hurt I wanted to help him. I didn't think he would follow me here" I said. Looking back at him he tilted his head then he bumped my hand with his beak.

"Is that all you have to say to us"mom asked crossing her arms. As I ran my hand over his soft feathers. I told them that he and I were mates.

"What's his name son" dad asked after.

"I don't know yet not sure if he speaks our language" I frowned.

"We do have a book on griffin's try reading it maybe gather up all the language books you can find maybe he'll recognize one. In the mean time take him to doc maybe she can fix that wing and his leg" mom said

"Love you mom and dad thanks" I smiled.

"Love you too Calen" they said I went toward the clinic my friend followed me. Doc showed me how to wrap his wing and leg because he wouldn't let her, and she showed us a room he could stay in while he healed.
