Our First Run (Calen)

It's been a busy week I official took over as Alpha, and Arlo and I have been planning a wedding. Nana has been enjoying making shirts for Arlo to accommodate his wings. I had been busy the last couple days Arlo tryed to help but his heart wasn't into politics of the pack. He much rather being out with the guards training and keeping the city safe. Besides I had Maxi to help. The guards didn't like the idea at first since he was more or less Luna to the pack and part of their job was to protect the Alpha and Luna alog with the other wolves who couldn't fight, but do to his military training back were he lived he proved to them well mainly Geo that he could handle himself and protect the pack. I hadn't seen Arlo today and missed him so I finished what I had to do quickly and decided to go find him. I went to the guard bunk house. Josie was working on paperwork she didn't notice me.

"Hey Josie" I said she jumped to her feet quickly.

"Alpha I'm sorry I didn't hear you come in is there anything I can do for you" she said nervously

"Calm down, I was just looking for Arlo" I said.

"Oh Umm, he's out doing a perimeter check not exactly sure where though" she said.

"Oh ok thanks, see you later" I said and went. I went and sat under a near by apple tree put my headphones on, leaned back against the tree trunk, and closed my eyes. I listened to random songs. About half way though the fourth song I had a certain griffin come up under my arm. I pulled off my headphones.

"Hey handsome" I smiled. He nuzzled me and licked my face.

"Ewww" I laughed wiping my face off he made a weird chirping noise, and was sorta dancing infront of me. "Oh you want to play" I asked. He shook his head yes and took off running into the woods I quickly stripped and shifted, and chased after him through the woods damn was he fast. I was able to keep him in my sight. He made our run into a game of tag even though we couldn't talk though mind link yet, and I wasn't sure if we would ever be able to. Our bond was getting tighter by the day I could read his expressions and he could mine. Our little game began to get hot and his scent was becoming stronger as we ran. I had to stop I lost sight of him this time. I shifted and called out his name. I knew the guards were around but we were all use to seeing naked people out in the woods hell if you walked though town you were bound to see at least one or two people naked. The guards wouldn't bother us I called his name a second time. Then suddenly he pounced on me he didn't hurt me in anyway. As a matter of fact I laughed, he to was in human form. He chuckled and kissed me it was becoming hot, but couple of the guards tackled him off me, I stood quickly.

"Stop" I growled using my alpha vocie. Everyone froze except for Arlo who was flying a few feet above us. Somewhere in the middle of the chaos he had changed and broke free. I could smell blood and knew it was Arlo's.

"Arlo are you ok" I asked he landed beside me glaring at the two who had interrupted us. I noticed the blood on his beautiful white feathers on the side of his head.

I shot a glare at the two it was two of the younger guards Matt and Lucas. "You two better explain right now" I said I was pissed they hurt my mate my wolf and lion wanted to protect him but the human side knew they were only doing what they were taught. They both shifted to human form.

"We're sorry Alpha, we didn't know. We heard you growl and thought he was hurting you" Matt answered they both were looking at the ground.

"You are aware he is my mate right" I asked trying my best to get my anger under control.

"No sir," Lucas started I cut him off   "GO HOME NOW" I growled they took off without a word. I kneeled down to Arlo.

"I'm so sorry Arlo" I frowned and rubbed his head he changed to human form it was his temple that was cut.

"It's ok Calen, just alittle cut I've had worse trust me" he smiled leaning closer and gave me a quick kiss.

"That's not the point. It's my fault, I should of known they would react that way. Do to were not fully mated yet" I said pulling a bag out from under a near by bush and putting on the pants I pressed the shirt to his head.

"It's not your fault. It isn't anyone's fault. It's all a big misunderstanding" he said.

"Your right, we still need to deal with this and explain to the guards and anyone else that we are mates and we've chosen to wait to fully mate after we're married" I said.

"I believe that should be private. It isn't anyone's business" He said

"OK OK, but I still have to deal with this I can't have the guard or anyone else for that matter attacking you thinking your hurting me or whatever. It took all my strength to hold back my wolf and lion from attacking those two. True my duty is to make sure the pack is safe but your my soulmate I want to protect you even against my pack" I said

"I understand I want to protect you also, it's just when we decide we want to take our relationship to the next level it should be between us. Exspecially since I found out we don't have to have anyone's permission" he said.

"I know, but you do know others will know whether we want them to know or not just because of our scents"I said looking at the small cut it wasn't bleeding anymore a few more minutes and there wouldn't even be a wound.

"Yes I'm aware, anyways let's go it's dinner time" he said.
