The General and the Demons (Calen)

It had been a quite day showing the visiting Alphas. Their wife's were head over heels for Rhain and Carleigh. Arlo didn't like them fawning over them and was absolutely dead set against anyone holding them. He was tense the whole time until mom and dad took Rhain and Carleigh with them that's when he finally relaxed alittle. That was until bright flash of light lit up the sky, and a large man in gold armor fighting six demons came out of a bright white swirling mass that formed right infront of us. Arlo shifted and went before I could stop him but my warriors were also there just as fast apparently Arlo had taught them how to handle a demon if the need ever came up. Me and the Luna's were forced into a safe room along with all the children and some of the other women and men that weren't warriors of the pack. I tryed argue that I should be protecting the pack but was told I needed to be there for my babies just in case something happened to Arlo. All the kids had at least one parent in the safe room. My mom was helpers with Kela and pops made papa come down here everyone else was out fighting was curious where Nana was surely Gramps wouldn't let her fight. It was hours before Maxie finally opened the door. Josh had been here with everyone else with their son Gus.

"Where's Arlo" I asked holding a very upset Rhain and Carleigh.

"At the clinic" she answered

"What" I shouted and took off as fast as I could with the kids on each hip it was hard to run at my fastest. I got there I didn't see Arlo at first and started panicking "Where's my mate" I shouted at the first person I saw my vision was blurry so I didn't see who it was.

"Calm down Cal he's fine the General that came though was injured he's with him" Pops said that's when I heard mom screaming in pain

"Pops where's dad" I asked I could feel it I knew he was gone. Pops confirmed my feeling dad wasn't the only one there was a few of the warriors that were also killed. I was torn I wanted to be near my mom but I needed to be near Arlo I needed to know he was ok. He must of felt my pain because he came up just then.

"I'm sorry Cal" he whispered hugging me and both kids close.

"What happened" I asked in tears but needing to know.

"It all happened so fast one minute he beside me the next he was flung against a tree. He took the blow the demon was aiming at me. I went to him but it was to late he was gone" Arlo said.  Before I knew it mom smacked Arlo across the face.

"You should of protected him. You should forced him in the safe room" she said in tears of course pops hugged her tight.

"Meya stop, it isn't Arlo's fault. Ben protected him for Calen for your grandchildren. Ben knew they need him. This is a big blow to all of us your not the only one who lost a mate" he said. I was able to see Kela in Nana's arm's face buried in her neck crying.

"Mom, Kela needs you and can you please take Rhain and Carleigh" I said as calmly as I could I was the Alpha and need to get ahold of myself and be strong for the pack. Her eyes went to mine and Arlo's babies who now upset she smacked their Dada. As a matter of fact Carleigh had went to him and kissed his cheek right after.

"I'm sorry Arlo" she said. I needed to think and there was so many members here I could barely hear myself think. Mom took the kids.

"Ok, Everyone if you are not injured or not the mate of one who's injured I need you to go to the pack house I will address everyone when I'm better informed" I said loudly using a bit of my alpha powers.

"Alpha what about those who lost a loved one" Maxie asked.

"Only their mates can stay at the moment, and Maxie can you take Rhain, Carleigh and Kela please. Get them settled at the house with the other Children and mothers or fathers. I need you and Josh back here" I answered

"Sure thing, Anything else" she asked normally she'd complain when I got bossy but right now she knew I had to be.

"Yes please have someone start dinner" I said pulling Arlo into the doctors private office I needed a minute. He held me and rubbed my back. I cryed into his shirt.

"I'm so sorry Cal. We should of been better prepared for something like this" he whispered.

"Even the best trained warriors couldn't of been prepared for this" Pops said.

"Pops, I didn't ask you to come in here" I said I was angery, hurt. I couldn't even remember what I said to my dad the last time we spoke.

"I know Cal, but I was Alpha before your dad and you need your whole family. I'm here if you need the support" he said

"Mom needs you more then I do" I said drying my eyes with some tissues on the desk. Doctor Sam came in.

"Oh I'm sorry I didn't realize you were using my office" he said.

"We should be the ones apologizing, but while your here fill us in on how many injured and how many we lost" I said.

"6 wolves with minor injuries they should be healed by tomorrow, 3 with broken bones that will take a few days and we lost 4 including your father. I'm sorry for your loss" he answered.

"Thanks Doc, if you don't mind may we continue to use your office. I promise we won't touch anything" I said.

"I don't mind I'll let Rose know" he said

"Thanks Doc can you have Maxie and Josh come in. Pops go tend to mom" I said pinching the bridge of my nose.

"Your mom is with Papa and she's the one who said to come help you. As a matter of fact she had the other 2 Ladies and 1 gentleman who lost their mate go sit outside under the tree together and the other threes families" he said.

"You mean the personal families right" I said

"Right anyone not derectly related to the ones that were killed are up at the pack house. Besides the 9 injured and their mate if they had one that is if not there parents are with them" Maxie answered. Coming over and hugging me.

"Thanks Maxie, oh what about the visiting Alphas" I asked.

They all up at the pack house Only one had a minor injury but he said he was fine" Maxie said.

"Good" I sighed looking up at Arlo he still had one arm around me.

"I'm right here Cal, I'll be right beside you during this dark time" he said.

"I know, what about the portal" I said

"It's closed for now I don't know if it will reopen. I didn't study portals back home. All the demons once killed their bodies disappeared like normal. They were just ground ones lesser of the demons"

"You mean there are ones stronger then those" Maxie asked

"Yes, and I can teach everyone how to fight them but even I can do so much and only ever fought the flying ones. We will need armor weapons all that jazz. Inform all the other Alpha's but what if one of these portals open somewhere other then here or in a human city. We could be over ran quickly" he answered.

"Well cross that bridge when we get to it, what of this General. Do you know him" I asked

"Only by name and reputation. Never fought with him. He is General Mason Low of the 1st ground core. I believe he's a spell caster but not exactly sure. Everyone has some sort of magic training" he answered.

"What about you" Josh asked

"Yes my human form is a spell, my armor has a magic spell casted on it, and a few minor healing spells. I mainly focused on languages. Like I understood what those demons were shouting. Which at the moment was attack over and over but the head one wanted the littlest one to go back inform the others but Maxie took care of that one while the General dealt with the main one" he answered.

We discussed how to go about handling if we're ever attacked in the future. The best was to train everyone to the best of our ability. I needed to talk to this General. I feared that Arlo would be made to go back if this guy ordered it. We discussed the funerals, Dads would be separate from the others do to he was a Alpha. We had alot to talk about but I was mentally drained and needed to rest and some time with my personal family. So Arlo and I ended up at Nana's and Gramp's house. With them, Mom, Kela, Pops, Papa, Rhain and Carleigh. We lined up sleeping there also. We knew we needed to surround Mom with all our love. Losing ones mate can be a death sentence. I knew mom would survive she had all of us to help her though the grief.
