Chapter 14: A Deranged Mother & A Possessive Fiancé
"We are all born ignorant. But one must work hard to remain stupid."
-Benjamin Franklin.
I awoke the next morning in a happy mood as I wrapped my arm into something warm and snuggled. An arm draped itself around my waist pulled me closer to this warmth as I smiled in someone's bare chest. Did I just say bare chest?
My eye flew open instantly and laid there stiff, and observed the perimeter around me, I wasn't in my room. There were no devil birds chirping around my window plus there was something moving up and down next to me. I looked over to see a rising chest.
It was then I remembered the night before. I had fallen asleep at his side by the shore. When I had asked him to stay with me tonight, I didn't think he actually comply. If anything, perhaps would have left me after a while or at least slept on the floor. This was also beyond one of the boundaries I had placed for myself. Way beyond my boundaries, but I still like it.
I slowly unwrapped myself from his arms, and admired his sleeping features beofre heading to the bathroom to change. Time was running out but I was slowly realizing how quickly everything was moving. It was already September and I was ten months away from committing to a man that I meet only two months ago. There was a loud nock outside the bedroom door as Shane started to stir from his sleep. The knocking wasn't subsiding but become louder and quicker. I opened the door ready to scream at whoever it was. Violet was outside, with her hand still up in the arm. Lifting my eyebrow I looked at her waiting for her to say something.
"Evelyn!"
"What?" I asked.
"Their coming!" She shouted.
"Who's coming?" Both of us looked over to see Shane coming over and rubbing his eyes.
I looked around awkwardly, trying to avoid Violet, who was in utter shock. "It's not what you think."
"Oh my God this is even worse. I forgot about you." She yelled even louder.
She entered the room and looked around, realizing we both still had our clothes on, she quickly grabbed Shane's shoes off of the floor and pushed him outside of the door. He was about to say something when Violet slammed the door on his face, and ran across the room. I looked over at her, again raised my eyebrow as she looked for something. Frantically digging through my clothes from the floor she found what she was looking for and shoved it in my face. "27 missed calls! You have 27 missed calls! Did you not even check your phone at all yesterday?" She yelled.
"No, why would I? You know I left it at the room for a reason." I told her sitting back down on the bed.
"You have a fiancé that was looking for you yesterday." She explained to me, like if I was an idiot.
"Yea so?"
"Mom was looking for you yesterday!"
I rolled my eyes at her, "get to the point Violet."
"Are you stupid or did you forget that you're not allowed to go out by yourself anymore."
"Did you forget that I purposely snuck out yesterday because of that?" I retorted back at her.
"It wouldn't have been such a big deal, if you at least called back Mom and said you went out. She was going crazy. I just plugged in my phone this morning when she called me to ask if I had seen you. I told her you were with me at the beach with Logan. I didn't mention Ace or Shane." She looked back over at me worried eyes, "Evelyn, Matt called you this morning and do you know who picked up your phone?" I looked at her, my body froze at the sudden stillness that came into the room, and prayed she wouldn't say his name, "Shane."
