Chapter 17: Misunderstood & Mayhem
"Love can sometimes be magic. But magic can sometimes... just be an illusion." -Javar
I gathered my items and headed for my vanity. A song played in the background as I placed my make-up items precisely down a line, each one humming with waited vengeance. After my little incident over the phone with Shane, Violet had stood there next to me and looked to the outside window with disgust. It was when she turned to stare at me, did her mind start brewing. A plan, a wickedly evil one created, and it was brilliant enough to work. This scheme I was now preparing to do in front of the mirror.
The sheer determination pulled me, just like Mia was determined to change not for Evan but for herself. What was there really to lose? Nothing and I wanted retribution. Why did I want it? Why did I even care? I wasn't too sure myself. Was it for self respect? Or maybe was it for the burning feeling that had stirred in my heart?
I did not know, and I wish not to understand at that moment.
Tonight everything was on the line. The uncertainty awaited all of us, including me. There low expectations would crumble into nothing more then dust. My self worth, my own courage, would now be put to the test. It would not sit right with my father at all, but right now I couldn't give a damn. I curled my hand around the eyeliner and stopped when I thought again of my father. What of the promise I made to him? Could I keep it now? Would he allow me to break it? No, I can't break my promise to him. I simply can't.
My intentions were not to destroy what agreements I had set with my father. The motive was with whatever invisible attachments seemed to have sprouted with that devil called Matthew. Everything about him annoyed me, from the way he would keep his cool and annoy me at the same time, to the way he could address an individual so charismatically.
I made sure to make my eyes pop out as I applied my black mascara and gold colored eyeshadow. My bright red polka-dot dress rested on my bed. The same intense color of that dress was applied on my lips in one of my last and final blows. Black flower shape fish-nets were added to my ensemble, when I changed.
The round ears perked up my antics for tonight. My curls stopped mid waist as I looked at myself in the mirror grinning evilly. I am one smoking Minnie Mouse! Mom did well in picking out my costume for tonight's event, and would deserve a thanks later tonight. A new pair of red devil heel befell me, but I understood now that pain was beauty. It was around nine, when I finally left my room. I stopped to hear the wolfish whistles of Violet and Elli.
"You like." I flirtatiously shook my body.
"Damn Evelyn, when you go all out, you really go all out. He's so going to regret what he did." Violet smirked.
"What who did?" asked Elli adjusting her witch hat.
"The bastard Matthew." Violet growled, which was kind of funny considering she was a kitty cat.
"Are you talking about what happened outside in the garden area?" Elli commented as we made our way down the stairs.
"Yea, you saw?" I asked her surprised.
"Yea, I actually saw the whole thing. Evelyn I think you misunder-"
"Elizabeth is that you?" A handsome man in his knight armor approached us. His dirty blond hair was nicely combs as his blue eyes twinkled at Elli's.
"John? I didn't know you were coming." Elli's eyes glowed as she walked over to kiss her childhood friend on the cheek. I nudged Violet in the arm and raise my eyebrows suggestively at her. Violet only snickered, we continued to see the spectacle unveil before us.
